USB port blockers are plugs that seal unused USB ports on computers, laptops and other equipment. They suit IT administrators in offices, schools and shared workspaces. Our range includes models from DELOCK, Exertis Connect, InLine and StarTech.com.
How to choose a USB port blocker
Connector type. Most blockers are made for the standard USB-A port, since that is where memory sticks are usually plugged in. If you need to block USB-C or another type of port, check the description to see which socket the model is designed for.
Release method. A blocker that can be pulled out by hand only protects against accidental connections. If the aim is to stop staff or visitors from using a port, choose a model that can only be removed with a special key or tool.
Quantity and keys in the pack. Count every port you need to cover, then check how many blockers and keys come in the pack. It is convenient for an administrator when one key releases all the blockers.
Colour. Colour makes it easy to see at a glance which ports are blocked and which are meant for use. Our range includes a green model.
Port layout. Check the spacing between ports, especially double or stacked sockets. The blocker should not cover a neighbouring port that needs to stay free.

Frequently asked questions
What is a USB port blocker used for?
A USB port blocker physically stops memory sticks and other devices from being plugged into unused USB ports. It is common in offices, schools, libraries and public workstations. This lowers the risk of data leaks and malware entering through USB.
Does a port blocker prevent data copying?
Partly: it stops a device from being connected to a blocked port, but it does not replace software protection. Ports that stay open, for example for a keyboard or mouse, can still be misused. For that reason a blocker works best alongside operating system policies.
Can a USB port blocker be removed without a key?
It depends on the model. Many blockers can only be released with a special key or tool, while simpler ones can be pulled out by hand. Read the description before buying, and do not pull a locked blocker out by force, as you could damage the port.
Will a USB-A blocker fit a USB-C port?
No, a USB-A blocker does not fit a USB-C port because the two shapes are different. A USB-C socket needs a model whose description clearly states that it is made for that connector. The same applies to any other port type.
