Accessories

This category covers add-ons for building and maintaining a PC: cables, USB and PCIe network cards, sound cards, case and graphics card accessories, RGB lighting and cleaning supplies. Our range has over 6,500 products from makers such as DIGITUS, Delock, StarTech.com and Lindy.

How to choose PC accessories

Connectors and standards. Check the connector types and versions on both devices: USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, SATA or PCIe. A matching plug does not guarantee every feature, because 4K video or fast data transfer needs a cable and two devices that all support the right standard.

Network card. A PCIe model suits a desktop with a free expansion slot, while a USB network card helps a laptop or mini PC that has no Ethernet port. Speeds are usually 1, 2.5 or 10 Gbit/s, but the real result is limited by both the connection and your network equipment. A slim case may need a low-profile bracket.

RGB lighting. 5 V addressable ARGB (3-pin) and 12 V RGB (4-pin) connect to different motherboard headers and are not interchangeable. Check which header your board has, and whether you will control the lighting through its software or with a separate remote.

Cleaning and maintenance. Isopropyl alcohol evaporates quickly and leaves no stains, so it is used for cleaning boards, coolers and optical elements. Our range includes, for example, KONTAKT IPA PLUS in a 500 ml bottle. Do not use it on screens with a special coating unless the manufacturer allows it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a USB and a PCIe network card?

A PCIe network card is fitted into a motherboard slot in a desktop PC, while a USB network card plugs into an external port and also works with laptops. PCIe usually offers more stable operation and higher speeds, whereas a USB adapter is easy to move between devices. For gigabit speeds on the USB side you need at least a USB 3.0 port.

Does every USB-C cable carry video?

No, because USB-C describes only the shape of the connector. Some of these cables are meant only for charging or slow data transfer, while others also carry a video signal. The device itself must also support video output over USB-C.

Will RGB lighting work with my motherboard?

It will if the connector matches: 3-pin 5 V ARGB or 4-pin 12 V RGB. Mixing them up can damage the light strip or the board, especially if a 12 V device is connected to a 5 V header. If your board lacks the right header, the lighting can be run from a separate controller.

What should I use to clean PC components?

Remove dust from fans and boards with a soft brush or compressed air, and wipe off grease and grime with isopropyl alcohol. Unplug the computer from the mains first and let the alcohol evaporate fully before switching on. KONTAKT IPA PLUS, for example, is intended for cleaning optical elements and leaves no marks.
