The RGB lighting category covers lighting accessories for PC cases as well as light sources for filming and smart homes. It suits anyone styling a PC build, setting up a desk or putting together a small filming space. Brands in our range include Lamptron, LIAN LI, Phanteks, Godox and Yeelight.
How to choose RGB lighting
Connector type. PC lighting uses one of two standards: a 4-pin 12 V RGB connector, where the whole strip shows one colour at a time, or a 3-pin 5 V addressable (ARGB) connector, which controls each LED individually. The two are not interchangeable, so check which headers your motherboard has before buying.
Control method. Lighting can be managed through the motherboard software, if the manufacturer supports it, or through a separate controller or remote. A standalone controller is handy when your board lacks a suitable header or you would rather not install extra software.
Size and quantity. Measure the inside of your case and work out how much lighting you need: strip length, number of fans. Make sure you have enough free headers, because some kits can be daisy-chained and others connect one at a time.
Purpose. Our range includes PC lighting accessories and also light sources for filming and smart homes. For filming, brightness and colour temperature matter most. For smart lighting, look at app control and voice assistant support. For a PC, focus on the connector and syncing with other components.
Power. PC lighting is normally powered from the motherboard or from a controller connected to the power supply. Lights for filming usually need their own power source or battery, so check how they operate before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RGB and ARGB lighting?
RGB lighting usually connects to a 4-pin 12 V header and the whole strip shows a single colour at a time. ARGB connects to a 3-pin 5 V header and each LED can be controlled separately, which allows wave or rainbow effects. The two connectors must not be mixed.
Does RGB lighting work without motherboard software?
Yes, if you use a separate controller or a remote, no motherboard software is needed. When the lighting is plugged straight into the board, colours are usually changed in the board's own software or in the BIOS, depending on the manufacturer.
Does RGB lighting affect PC performance?
No, lighting has no effect on processor or graphics card speed. It draws very little power compared with other components. Gaming and work speed are determined by the processor, graphics card and RAM, not by lighting effects.
Can RGB lighting be used outside a PC?
It depends on the product. PC lighting accessories need a 5 V or 12 V header and a controller, so they are of little use outside a case. Smart lights and filming lights are designed for a room or studio and do not need PC connectors.
