This category contains mains power cables for laptop chargers and other power supplies that plug into a wall socket. Our range includes cables for Dell, Lenovo, HP and Fujitsu devices, as well as products from Qoltec, Lindy and Nedis.
They are useful when the original cable has been lost, damaged or is simply too short.
How to choose a power cable
Connector type. The inlet on a charger's power brick varies: the most common are the two-pin C7 (figure-8 shape), the three-pin C5 (cloverleaf shape) and the larger C13. Look at the inlet on your charger or its label, because the cable's connector has to match exactly.
Plug and socket ends. On a standard cable the plug (male end) goes into the wall socket and the socket end (female) fits onto the charger. Our range includes cables like this, but there are also variants with a plug on both ends, which are meant for special uses, so read the product description before buying.
Length. Our range includes cables of 1 m, 1.8 m and 2 m. One metre is enough when the socket is next to your desk, while 1.8 or 2 m is more comfortable when the charger sits behind a desk or the socket is far from the sofa or bed. An overly long cable just tangles, so do not take much more than you need.
Pin count and earthing. A three-pin charger needs a three-pin cable, and a two-pin inlet will not accept a three-pin cable. Also check that the cable's rated current is at least as high as the figure on the charger label.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find out which power cable my laptop needs?
Look at the inlet on the charger's power brick and compare its shape with the connector description. A two-pin inlet needs a C7 cable, a cloverleaf three-pin inlet needs C5, and the larger three-pin inlet needs C13. If you are unsure, the charger label shows a model code that can help you confirm it.
Can I use a power cable from a different manufacturer?
In most cases yes, provided the connector type matches and the cable is rated for the charger's current. The brand matters little, because the cable only carries mains power from the socket to the charger. What counts is that the connector sits firmly in the inlet.
What length of power cable should I choose?
For most setups 1.8 m or 2 m is enough, as it reaches the socket even when the charger sits behind a desk. A 1 m cable suits a socket right next to the laptop, for example a desk against a wall. Choose the length according to the distance to the socket and where the charger will sit.
What is the difference between two-pin and three-pin power cables?
A two-pin cable (such as C7) has no earth connection, while a three-pin cable (such as C5) has an extra earth pin. The charger's inlet decides which one you need, so the two are not interchangeable. Buy the cable whose shape matches the inlet on your charger.
