VR Accessories

This category covers accessories for VR/AR headsets: head straps, face interfaces and hygiene covers, along with accessories from headset makers. It suits anyone who wants to wear a headset they already own more comfortably, for longer or more hygienically. Our range includes products from BOBOVR, VR COVER, HTC VIVE and PIMAX.

How to choose VR headset accessories

Compatibility. Start by confirming the exact headset model, because accessories are made to fit a specific body shape and set of mounting points. A strap or cover made for one generation of Meta Quest may not fit another, so look for your model name in the product description.

Weight distribution. Most of a headset's weight sits at the front, which is why the face and forehead often start to feel pressure after an hour of play. A strap with a rear support moves part of the load to the crown and back of the head, and the difference is clearest with heavier headsets.

Battery in the strap. Straps with a built-in battery extend play time and also counterbalance the front of the headset. Check the capacity (mAh), whether the battery can be replaced, and whether you can charge the headset without taking the strap off.

Face interface and hygiene. Synthetic leather or silicone covers are easier to wipe clean than standard foam, which helps when several people share a headset or you use it for exercise. If you wear glasses, check the thickness of the interface, as it determines how much room you have in front of your eyes.

Original or third-party. Accessories from the headset maker match the hardware most precisely, including features such as tracking sensors. Third-party straps and covers often add something extra, such as a battery or a different material, so it is worth comparing them against what you actually need.

Brands in our range

• BOBOVR: known for head straps with a battery for standalone VR headsets, above all Meta Quest models. It is the brand with the most products in this category.
• VR COVER: specialises in replaceable face interfaces and covers that protect the headset foam from sweat and dirt.
• HTC VIVE: a VR headset maker that offers accessories for its own VIVE system.
• PIMAX: known for high-resolution, wide field of view headsets for PC gaming, and its accessories are made for those models.

Frequently asked questions

Do VR accessories fit every headset?

No, most accessories are made for a specific headset model or series. Compare the name of your headset with the compatible models listed in the product description before you buy. Even different generations from the same maker can use different mounting.

Is a head strap with a battery worth buying?

Yes, if you play for longer than an hour or the weight of the headset presses on your face. Such a strap adds extra power and shifts part of the weight to the back of your head. For short sessions a standard strap is enough.

How do I look after a VR headset face interface?

Wipe it with a soft damp cloth after each use and let it dry. Foam interfaces absorb sweat and wear out over time, so they are worth replacing periodically. A cover is easier to clean and protects the original foam.

Can I wear glasses with a VR headset?

In many cases you can, provided the headset has enough room inside and your frames are not very wide. A thicker face interface helps, because it moves the lenses further from your face. If it is still uncomfortable, you can choose prescription lens inserts made for VR headsets.
