Digital photo frames

Digital photo frames

Digital photo frames show your pictures in rotation, and some also play short video clips, which makes them suited to a living room, a desk or a gift for relatives who do not use smartphones. Our range includes frames from KODAK, DENVER, NAVITEL, LEXAR and PIX-STAR. Most of these devices receive photos over Wi-Fi, from a memory card or from a USB stick.

How to choose a digital photo frame

Screen size and resolution. A frame is usually viewed from a few metres away, so a larger screen suits a living room, while a smaller one is enough for a desk or bedside table. The higher the resolution, the less visible the pixels, especially on bigger screens.

Screen type. IPS screens keep their colour and brightness when viewed from the side, which matters if the frame sits in the corner of a room. If there is a window nearby, check the screen surface: a glossy panel reflects more light than a matte one.

Getting photos onto the frame. Frames with Wi-Fi let you send photos from your phone, even if the frame sits in your grandparents' home in another city. Models without wireless are simpler: you insert a memory card or USB stick and the frame displays the files on it.

Memory and file formats. Built-in memory lets you keep photos on the frame itself, with no card needed. Check that the device reads your file formats (usually JPEG) and plays video if you want that.

Orientation and controls. Many frames rotate a photo automatically when you stand them upright. A remote control or touchscreen helps older users who do not want to hunt for small buttons.

Brands we carry

  • KODAK: a photography name known since the days of film, so it is familiar to many buyers.
  • DENVER: a Danish consumer electronics maker with a range of household devices.
  • NAVITEL: best known for navigation software and GPS devices.
  • LEXAR: specialises in memory cards and other storage media, which is relevant for a frame that reads photos from a card.
  • PIX-STAR: known for Wi-Fi frames to which photos can be sent remotely.

Frequently asked questions about digital photo frames

What size of digital photo frame should I choose?

The size depends on where the frame will stand. On a desk or shelf, where you view it up close, a smaller screen is enough. In a living room, where people look at it from a few metres away, a larger one is better.

Does a digital photo frame work without internet?

Yes, if the frame reads photos from a memory card, a USB stick or its built-in memory. Internet is only needed for frames with Wi-Fi when you want to send photos from your phone or through an account. Check which transfer methods a model supports before buying.

How do I put photos on a digital photo frame?

There are three common ways: insert a memory card, plug in a USB stick, or send photos over Wi-Fi from your phone. Which of these works depends on the model. It is worth checking that the frame supports your photo format before you copy files.

Do digital photo frames play video?

Some models play short video clips, but not all of them do. The product description lists the supported formats. If video matters to you, check this before buying.
