How to choose wireless headphones
Wearing style. Our range includes headband, in-ear, ear-hook and neck-band designs. In-ear models fit in a pocket and suit sport and travel. Over-ear headphones that enclose the whole ear are usually more comfortable for long sessions and block more outside noise, while on-ear models are lighter but can press harder on the ears.
Connection. Most wireless headphones connect over Bluetooth, which is enough for a phone. Some models also come with a cable, and we stock a good number of them: it helps when the battery runs flat. For gaming and PCs, a separate USB receiver is often supplied because it usually reduces audio delay.
Microphone and use. In most models the microphone is built into the housing, which is fine for short calls. For long calls and gaming, choose a boom microphone that sits closer to your mouth. There are also models made for offices and call centres, and single-ear headsets leave you able to hear your surroundings.
Battery, noise cancelling and controls. Compare battery life using the manufacturer's stated figure, and for TWS earbuds check how many extra charges the case provides. Active noise cancelling helps on public transport and in open-plan offices, but it uses some of the battery. Buttons are easier to operate during exercise, while touch panels can change the volume by accident.

TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds are two separate earpieces with no cable between them. Other wireless headphones, such as headband or neck-band designs, are joined by a single piece. TWS earbuds fit in a pocket and charge in their case, but they are easier to lose.
Are wireless headphones suitable for calls and office work?
