Windows tablets

Windows tablets are tablet computers that run full Windows rather than a mobile app system. Our range is mostly 2-in-1 devices with a detachable keyboard, plus rugged tablets for fieldwork. Microsoft makes most of the models, and you will also find Getac, Panasonic and ASUS. They suit office staff, students and professionals who need ordinary desktop software.

How to choose a Windows tablet

Purpose. For office work and travel, a light 2-in-1 tablet with a keyboard cover is the most practical. For warehouses, factories or work outdoors, a rugged tablet that withstands drops, dust and moisture is the safer buy. Our range includes both types.

Processor and memory. Browsing, office programs and video calls usually run well on a mid-range processor with 8 GB of RAM. If you keep many programs open, edit video or use virtual machines, 16 GB or more is a better choice. Most tablets do not allow the RAM to be upgraded later, so buy with some headroom.

Screen and accessories. A screen of 12 to 13 inches lets a tablet stand in for a laptop, while a smaller one is easier to hold in one hand. Keyboards and stylus pens are often sold separately, so check that they fit the exact model.

Ports and connectivity. Look at how many USB ports there are and whether you can connect an external monitor. For work away from the office, a mobile data module (LTE or 5G) is useful, but not every tablet has one.

Windows edition and battery. Windows 11 Pro is needed if your company's IT department manages the device or it joins a company domain. Home is usually enough for personal use. If the tablet has to last a full shift without charging, check the battery life and whether the battery can be swapped.

Frequently asked questions

How is a Windows tablet different from an Android tablet?

A Windows tablet runs full desktop programs such as Microsoft Office, accounting or design software. An Android tablet uses mobile apps. A Windows tablet makes sense when you need to work on it the way you would on a laptop.

Can a Windows tablet replace a laptop?

Yes, if you add a keyboard and choose enough RAM. For documents, email and video calls, a tablet is sufficient. Demanding video editing or 3D design is usually better handled by a more powerful laptop.

Which Windows tablet is best for warehouse or outdoor work?

A rugged tablet that withstands drops, dust and water is the best choice. Getac and Panasonic, for example, build such devices. A bright screen that stays readable in sunlight and a replaceable battery are also worth looking for.

Do I need to buy a keyboard for a Windows tablet?

Not always, but it is very handy for longer typing. On Surface-style tablets the keyboard is usually sold separately. If you only read documents or fill in forms in the field, the on-screen keyboard and a stylus may be enough.
