This category contains site and workshop dust extractors together with accessories, for anyone who drills, cuts or sanders and wants to collect dust right at the work area. Our range has over 90 products, mostly from Makita, Einhell, Bosch and Metabo. It covers simpler models for home DIY as well as options for professional use.
How to choose a dust extractor for a workshop or building site
Dust class. Class L is meant for ordinary, non-hazardous dust such as wood chips and general building debris. Cutting concrete, brick or stone produces fine silica dust, so you need at least an M class extractor. The manufacturer states the class in the specification.
Power source. A corded extractor has no runtime limit and usually comes with a larger tank. A cordless one is handier on scaffolding or in rooms without a free socket. If you already own a Makita, Einhell, Bosch or Metabo battery, check that it fits the same maker's battery system before choosing an extractor.
Capacity and airflow. A small tank of 10 to 20 litres is easy to carry and suits a single work area, while a larger tank copes better with plenty of shavings or debris. For fine dust, airflow and filter quality matter more than the wattage figure alone.
Filter and tool connection. Fine dust clogs filters quickly, so find out whether the filter can be cleaned and whether spare filters and bags are sold. If you plan to connect the extractor directly to a drill, sander or saw, check the hose diameter and make sure a suitable adapter is available.

Frequently asked questions about dust extractors
How does a site dust extractor differ from a household vacuum cleaner?
A site extractor is built for heavier dust and debris, with a sturdier tank, a thicker hose and a fine dust filter. Many models can be connected to a power tool. A household vacuum cleaner clogs quickly with this kind of dust and may not trap the finest particles.
Which dust class should I choose?
For wood and ordinary building debris, class L is usually enough. For concrete, brick or stone dust choose at least class M, and particularly hazardous materials call for class H. The class is given in the product description.
Can I connect a dust extractor to a drill or sander?
Yes, many workshop extractors can be connected to a drill, sander or saw through a hose with the right adapter. The hose and tool connection diameters must match. Some extractors also have a socket that switches them on together with the tool.
Can a workshop extractor pick up water?
Only if the manufacturer states that the model is designed for wet and dry use. Many site extractors can do this, but not all of them. Check the manual and make sure the correct filter is fitted before picking up any liquid.
