How to choose a travel adapter
Socket type at your destination. Find out which sockets are used where you are going: Type G in the UK, Types A and B in the USA and Canada, Type I in Australia. Our range includes adapters with a Type G (UK) plug, a Type B plug and a Type E/F hybrid plug.
Universal or single-country. A universal adapter helps when you travel through several countries, because it carries plugs for more than one standard. A single-country adapter is usually smaller and simpler, so it makes sense if you keep returning to the same place, such as London. Both kinds are in our range.
Your own plugs. Look at the plug type on your chargers and choose an adapter whose socket accepts it. In our range you will find adapters with a universal socket, with a Type C (Europlug) and Type F socket, and with a Type G socket.
Voltage. A travel adapter only changes the shape of the plug, not the voltage. Some of our models list an AC input of 100-250 V, but what matters most is the label on your charger: phone and laptop chargers are usually rated for 100-240 V, while hair dryers and heating appliances are sometimes built for a single voltage.
Power rating and safety features. Check the maximum current or wattage the adapter can handle, especially if you will power a laptop or several chargers at once. If the adapter has USB ports, look at their combined output in watts. Earthing and overload protection matter when you are powering computers.

Which adapter do I need for the UK?
The UK uses Type G sockets with three rectangular pins, so you need a Type G adapter or a universal model that includes this plug. Our range includes adapters with a Type G (UK) plug. Before buying, make sure your charger's plug fits the adapter's socket.
Does a travel adapter change the voltage?
No, a basic travel adapter changes only the shape of the plug, not the voltage. Most phone and laptop chargers work on 100-240 V, but you should confirm this on the charger's label. A device rated for 230 V only may need a separate voltage converter.
Does a universal adapter work in every country?
A universal adapter covers most of the socket types used around the world, but not always every one. Check the plug types the manufacturer lists and compare them with the standard in your destination. If you are only going to one country, an adapter for that country's sockets is enough.
Which adapter should I choose for the USA?
For the USA you need an adapter for Type A or Type B sockets, which have flat pins. Our range includes models with a Type B plug. European chargers will work if they are rated for an input of 100-240 V, since the US mains supply is around 120 V.
