How to choose a speaker mount
Where it will go. Our range includes wall, ceiling and floor mounts, and some suit both wall and ceiling. A wall mount works for bookshelf and rear surround speakers, a ceiling mount lets you hang a speaker above a seating area, and a floor stand helps where you would rather not drill.
Maximum weight. Always compare the speaker's weight with the load the mount is rated for. Some mounts in our range are rated for 3.5 kg or 5 kg, so a larger speaker needs a sturdier model.
Material. You will find plastic mounts and models that combine metal and plastic. Plastic is lighter and suits small satellite speakers, while metal parts generally add rigidity and bend less under load.
Wall type and fixings. Concrete, brick and plasterboard each need different plugs, and the ones supplied in the box do not always suit your wall. Find out what your wall is made of before buying and choose fixings to match.
Angle adjustment and colour. A mount that swivels and tilts lets you aim the sound at the listening position, so check whether the model offers this. Our range includes black and white mounts, so you can match the wall or the speaker.

Frequently asked questions about speaker mounts
Can I hang a speaker on a plasterboard wall?
Yes, but only a light speaker, using fixings made for plasterboard, and ideally screwed into the wall's frame. A heavier speaker is safer on a floor stand. Always check the maximum load the mount is rated for.
How do I know if a mount will fit my speaker?
Compare the speaker's weight with the mount's maximum load and look at how the speaker attaches. Some speakers have mounting holes or a threaded insert on the back, while others have none. A speaker without them needs a mount that it sits on or that holds it around the body.
Where should I place rear surround speakers?
Usually to the sides of or behind the seating position, at ear level or slightly above, angled towards the listener. The exact distances and angles are normally given by the home cinema manufacturer. Check the speaker manual before you drill.
What is the difference between a wall mount and a floor stand?
A wall mount lifts the speaker off the floor and saves space, but you have to drill into the wall. A floor stand needs no drilling and is easy to move, though it takes up room space. If you rent your home, the stand is often the more convenient option.
