Exact model. Start by finding the model designation of your tool or machine, usually printed on the housing or the rating plate. Parts are normally made for specific model series, so a blade from the same manufacturer will not always fit a different model.
Dimensions and fixing. Blade length, width, the number of mounting holes and the distance between them must match the old part. Measure the worn component before ordering, or compare its code with the one shown in the manufacturer's parts diagram.
Original or compatible part. An original part matches the manufacturer's dimensions and material, so it is the safer choice for a newer tool or one still under warranty. Compatible parts are sometimes cheaper, but check that they are clearly listed as suitable for your model.
What the part does. Replacement parts differ: some blades cut grass, others branches or hedges, while springs, seals and other small components keep the tool running smoothly. Choose according to the fault. A dull cutting edge needs a new blade or sharpening, a leaking sprayer needs a seal.

How do I know which blade fits my tool?

When should I replace a blade instead of sharpening it?
Replace a blade when it is bent, cracked or worn so far that sharpening no longer restores the edge. Light dullness can often be fixed by sharpening. An uneven cut, torn grass or branches and stronger vibration all suggest the part is worn out.
