MicroSD cards add storage to phones, tablets, action cameras, drones, dash cams and games consoles. Our range has over 400 models, including microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards, mostly from SanDisk, Transcend, Kingston and Lexar.
Capacities start at 16 GB and reach 512 GB, while speed and endurance vary a great deal between cards.
How to choose a microSD card
Card type. MicroSDHC cards go up to 32 GB, while microSDXC covers anything larger. Most of our range is microSDXC, so check that your device supports the XC standard before buying, as some older cameras and phones do not recognise it.
Capacity. The most common sizes are 64, 128 and 256 GB. A 64 GB card is enough to extend a phone for photos and music, while 4K video, drones and games consoles are better served by 128 GB or more. We also stock 512 GB cards.
Speed. Read speeds on many cards are around 100 MB/s, and the fastest reach 200 MB/s. For filming, write speed matters more, and in our range it runs from 10 MB/s to 160 MB/s. For 4K video look for U3 and V30 markings, and for apps on a phone or console an A1 or A2 rating helps. Most cards use the UHS-I interface, while UHS-II cards are few and need a device that supports them.
Endurance and temperature. Dash cams and security cameras write constantly and sit in the sun, so high endurance cards suit them best. The operating range on many cards is -25 to 85 °C, and on some it is -40 to 85 °C, so choose the widest range for cold weather or a hot car.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between microSDHC and microSDXC?
The difference is capacity and file system. MicroSDHC cards go up to 32 GB, while microSDXC cards start at 64 GB and go higher. If a device only supports SDHC, an XC card may not be recognised or may need reformatting.
What size microSD card do I need for a phone?
For most people 128 GB is enough. If you film in 4K or keep a lot of films and games on the phone, choose 256 GB or 512 GB. For photos and music alone, 64 GB will do.
Does a faster card always make a device faster?
No, because the device limits the speed too. If a phone or camera does not support UHS-II, such a card will run at UHS-I speed, so paying extra for it makes little sense. What matters most is that the write speed meets your video requirements.
Which microSD card should I choose for a dash cam?
Choose a high endurance card made for continuous recording, and check its operating temperature. A car gets hot in summer and cold in winter, so look for a stated range of -25 to 85 °C or wider. A capacity of 64 GB or 128 GB is usually enough.
