How to choose a rack shelf or drawer
Height in U. A shelf takes up a set number of rack units (U), so first work out how much space is left in your rack. Most models in our range are 1U or 2U, with some 3U, 4U and 8U options. There are also a few 0U products, which are mounted without using standard rack units.
Weight capacity. Choose a shelf with some margin over the weight of your equipment. A light switch or router needs only 10 or 20 kg, while a server, a UPS or a stack of several devices calls for a 50 or 100 kg shelf. Our range includes models from 10 to 100 kg.
Shelf type. A fixed shelf is the simplest option and suits equipment you rarely touch. A sliding shelf lets you reach a device from the top or rear without removing it from the rack. Drawer units are handy for tools, cables and documents. Adjustable shelves can be fitted to racks of different depths.
Rack depth and mounting. Check that the shelf depth fits your rack with cables and the door in place. Some shelves attach only to the front posts, while others use both front and rear posts, which holds heavier equipment better. Also look for ventilation slots if the equipment runs warm.
