Wired mice

Wired mice

Wired mice connect to a computer by cable, so they need no batteries and no pairing. Most of the category is made up of office models, but there are also mice for gaming, travel and medical use. Our range has over 400 models, including DELL, LENOVO, HP, Logitech and Kensington.

How to choose a wired mouse

Connector. Most mice in our range connect through USB-A, so they work with almost any computer. If your laptop has only USB-C ports, pick a USB-C model, as there are some available. For older equipment there are also mice with a PS/2 connector.

Sensor. Most of the mice we stock are optical, and an optical sensor works on ordinary mouse mats and desk surfaces. A laser sensor can track more accurately on some surfaces, such as glossy ones, but for everyday office work an optical sensor is usually enough.

Shape and handedness. Most of our mice are ambidextrous, meaning they are equally comfortable in the right or left hand. Right-handed shapes are less common and left-handed models are rare, so a left-handed user will usually find an ambidextrous design the easiest option. If you work with a mouse all day, choose a size your whole palm can rest on.

Buttons and scroll wheel. The most common layout is three buttons: left, right and a clickable wheel. If you often use back and forward in a browser, or want shortcuts in your software, look for a model with 5, 6 or 7 buttons. Most mice have a scroll wheel, but there are also touch-based and trackball designs.

Purpose. Most of the mice are meant for office use, where comfort and simplicity matter most. For gaming, look for extra buttons and a more responsive sensor, and for travelling a smaller mouse is easier to carry in a bag.

Brands in our range

  • DELL: the largest brand in our range, mostly simple office mice that are often bought alongside business computers and monitors.
  • LENOVO and HP: both are best known for business computers, and their wired mice are usually meant for workstations built around the same manufacturers' equipment.
  • Logitech: a Swiss-origin peripherals maker known for a broad choice of mice, from basic office models to gaming series.
  • Kensington: known for ergonomic mice and trackballs, as well as computer security accessories.
  • Cherry: a German manufacturer best known for keyboards, and its mice are often paired with those keyboards in office sets.

Also in our range: ESPERANZA, DEFENDER, GEMBIRD, IBM, MediaRange and Natec.

Frequently asked questions about wired mice

Is a wired mouse better than a wireless one?

A wired mouse is the better choice if you do not want to think about batteries or connection stability. It works as soon as it is plugged in, with no pairing and no charging. A wireless mouse is more convenient where a tidy desk or freedom of movement matters.

Should I choose USB-A or USB-C?

Choose according to the free ports on your computer. USB-A is the most common connector and suits most desktops and laptops. A USB-C mouse makes sense if your laptop has only USB-C ports and you would rather not use an adapter.

What is the difference between an optical and a laser mouse?

An optical mouse tracks movement with an LED, while a laser mouse uses a laser. Optical sensors work on most ordinary surfaces and are the usual choice. A laser model is worth considering if you work on a glossier or less even surface.

How many buttons does a mouse need?

Three buttons are enough for everyday work: left, right and the wheel. Extra side buttons help with web browsing, long documents and gaming. If you would not use those functions, additional buttons are more likely to get in the way.
