How to choose server rack accessories
Height in rack units (U). Space in a rack is measured in U, and one U is 44.45 mm high. Many accessories in our range are made for 1U, and there are also 2U, 3U and 9U options, while some are listed as 1.3U or 1.3U/2U. Add up the height of all your equipment and leave some free space for airflow.
Type of accessory. A shelf is needed for equipment with no mounting ears, such as a small router or an external drive. Rails let you slide out a heavier server for maintenance, a drawer unit holds a keyboard, documents or cables, and brackets secure lighter devices.
Compatibility with your device. Firewall rack mounts are usually made for specific models, so compare your device's model with the product description before ordering. Our range includes more of these mounts than other accessory types.
Load and rack depth. Shelves and rails have a maximum load rating, and rails only suit racks of a certain depth. Measure the distance between the front and rear posts, and for heavy servers choose adjustable-depth rails.
Cooling. In a cabinet where several devices heat each other, a fan unit helps to remove warm air. Check where it can be installed and how much noise it makes if the rack stands in an office.
