Power cables connect computers, monitors, servers and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to the mains. Our range has over 80 models: cables with an IEC C13 connector, C14 to C13 extension leads, C19 and C20 server cables and cables with a British plug. Brands include EQUIP, Good Connections, Kabelmeister and Lindy.
How to choose a power cable
Connectors. Start by checking which connector your device has. PC power supplies and many monitors use IEC C13, while UPS units and servers often use C14, C19 or C20. The plug at the other end matters too: our range includes CEE 7/7 (Schuko) and British BS 1363.
Current and power. The cable's rated current must be at least that of the device. Our range includes 10 A and 16 A cables, with maximum supported power from 625 W to 3500 W. A typical PC or monitor usually needs only 10 A, while servers and powerful UPS units more often call for 16 A.
Conductor size and cable type. Thicker conductors run cooler under heavy load. You will find cross sections of 0.75 mm², 1 mm² and 1.5 mm². H05VV-F3G is a flexible three-core cable with an earth conductor, while the flat H05VVH2-F and H03VVH2-F types are generally meant for lower-power devices without earthing.
Length. Measure the distance from the socket to the device and allow a little slack. Lengths of 1.8 m and 3 m are common, and there are also 1 m, 2 m, 5 m and 10 m options. An overlong cable is harder to tidy away behind a desk or inside a rack.

Frequently asked questions about power cables
What power cable does a desktop PC need?
Most desktop PCs and monitors need a cable with a Schuko (CEE 7/7) plug at one end and an IEC C13 connector at the other. Check that the device's power inlet really is a C14 before you buy. A 10 A cable is enough for typical office computers.
What is the difference between C13 and C14?
C13 is the cable-side socket that fits onto a device's pins, while C14 is the plug that goes into a C13 socket, for example on a UPS or power distribution unit. A cable with C14 at one end and C13 at the other therefore works as an extension lead between such a source and a device.
Can I use a 10 A cable for a device rated at 16 A?
No, the cable's rated current should never be lower than the device's. A 16 A cable will also work with a 10 A device if the connectors match. Servers with C19 and C20 connectors generally need 16 A.
What length of power cable should I choose?
A 1.8 m or 3 m cable is usually enough at a desk. If the socket is further away, a 5 m or 10 m cable is available, but measure the distance first. A 1 m cable is handy inside a rack, where devices plug into a nearby power strip.
