Keyboards with a card reader are built for office and home use: they have a smart card reader integrated into the keyboard for identity checks, electronic signatures and secure log-ins. Our range includes over 10 models, mostly from CHERRY, along with HP, NATEC and other manufacturers.
How to choose a keyboard with a card reader
Card type. Start with the card you will actually use: an ID card, a bank card or a company badge. Most readers of this kind are designed for contact chip cards, and some cards also need software from the card issuer, so read the product description before buying.
Key switch. Our range includes mechanical, membrane and plunger key switch models. Mechanical keyboards generally give a clearer keystroke and last longer, while membrane ones are quieter and usually cheaper. If you type a lot during the day, a mechanical model is the more comfortable option.
Layout and language. We stock German (QWERTZ), French (AZERTY), US English, UK English and Nordic layouts. Lithuanian letters are usually typed on a US English keyboard with a software layout switch, although the key markings will not match.
Compatibility and cable. Some models are listed as supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11. If you use another operating system, check whether the manufacturer provides reader drivers. Some models have a 1.8 m cable, which is long enough even if the computer sits under the desk.
Where it will be used. Most of our models are intended for the office, and a few also suit home use. If several colleagues will share the keyboard, choose a sturdy body and a surface that is easy to wipe clean.
Brands we carry
- CHERRY: a German manufacturer known for mechanical key switches and office keyboards with an integrated card reader, which is why it makes up most of this category.
- HP: a major maker of business computers and printers, and its keyboards are common in office workstations.
Also in our range: NATEC, RAIDSONIC and KEYSONIC.
Frequently asked questions
Who needs a keyboard with a card reader?
It is meant for anyone who works with chip cards: signing documents electronically, logging in to secure systems or confirming their identity. The reader is built into the keyboard, so you do not need a separate device or an extra cable on the desk.
Does a keyboard with a card reader work with Windows 11?
Some of our models are listed as compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11. Still, check the description of the specific product, because your cards may need separate software or an authentication application.
What is the difference between a mechanical and a membrane keyboard?
In a mechanical keyboard each key has its own switch, which gives a clearer keystroke and a longer lifespan. A membrane keyboard uses a continuous rubber layer under the keys, so it is quieter and usually cheaper. Our range includes both types, as well as models with plunger key switches.
Can I find a keyboard with a Lithuanian layout?
Our range lists German, French, Nordic, US English and UK English layouts. Lithuanian letters are normally typed by switching the software layout, so many buyers choose the US English version.
