Installation projectors

Installation projectors

Installation projectors are made for permanent mounting in conference rooms, classrooms, lecture halls and exhibition spaces. Our range has over 70 models, including laser, lamp and LED projectors, mainly from Epson, Sony, Panasonic, BenQ and Optoma.

The models differ most in brightness, resolution and how well the lens can be adapted to the room.

How to choose an installation projector

Brightness. Measured in lumens, it has to be matched to the room lighting and the screen size. A bright hall with a large screen needs far more light than a dim training room, so look at ANSI lumens rather than resolution alone.

Light source. Among the models in our range with specifications listed, most use a laser, and the light source life is often 20,000 hours, with some at 30,000 or 40,000 hours. Lamp models are also available, but the lamp lasts less time (4,000 or 5,000 hours for some) and will need replacing. There are LED and laser/LED hybrid models too.

Resolution and aspect ratio. The range includes WUXGA (1920x1200), 1080p, UHD 4K, WXGA and XGA models. The 16:10 format suits presentations, spreadsheets and documents, while 16:9 is closer to films and video calls. Choose the format that matches your screen and the content you show most often.

Lens and mounting. Measure the distance from the screen to the mounting point before buying and compare it with the lens throw ratio. Many installation models offer lens shift, and some allow the lens to be changed, which makes it easier to align the image when the projector is not mounted at the centre of the screen.

Connections, sound and noise. Our range includes models with one, two or three HDMI ports, and two or more is worth having if you connect several sources. Stated noise levels run from about 30 to 38 dB, and built-in speakers are often rated at 10 or 16 W. In a small room, quiet cooling matters more than in a large hall.

Frequently asked questions

How does an installation projector differ from a standard one?

An installation projector is designed to be fixed in place and used every day. It is usually brighter, has more lens adjustment options and offers more connections. Some models also allow the lens to be changed to suit the size of the room.

How many lumens do I need for a conference room?

The exact figure depends on screen size and room lighting. A small, dimmed room often needs only a few thousand lumens, while a large, bright hall needs considerably more. The bigger the screen and the more ambient light, the brighter the projector must be.

Is a laser or a lamp projector better?

For permanent daily use, a laser projector is usually the better choice. Its light source lasts thousands of hours longer and there is no lamp to replace. A lamp model can still make sense if the projector is used only occasionally.

Does an installation projector need 4K resolution?

4K helps when you show fine graphics, drawings, photos or films on a large screen to people sitting close. For text and presentations, 1080p or WUXGA is often enough. Choose according to the content you will show most.
