How to choose a wireless charger
Compatibility. Most modern phones support the Qi standard, but iPhones with magnets (iPhone 12 and later) work best with MagSafe or Qi2 chargers, because the magnets hold the phone exactly over the charging coil. Check your phone's specification to see which wireless charging it supports.
Power. Simpler chargers often offer around 5 or 10 W, which is enough for overnight charging. For faster top-ups look for 15 W models, although the phone itself sets the final speed. Many wireless chargers are sold without a power adapter, so check whether you will need a separate one with enough output.
Shape. A flat pad lets you drop the phone down in one move, while a stand holds it at an angle so you can see the screen and notifications. If you charge several devices, choose a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 model with room for a phone, earbuds or a watch.
Case and alignment. A thin plastic or silicone case usually does not get in the way. A thick case, a metal plate or a card pocket can slow charging down or stop it altogether. On pads without magnets, place the phone over the centre of the coil, otherwise charging may not start.
Safety features. Look for overheating protection and detection of stray metal objects. Phones are often charged overnight, so the charger should stop by itself if something goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Does my phone support wireless charging?
Most mid-range and high-end phones made in the last few years support the Qi standard. You will find the exact answer in the phone's specification under wireless charging. The cheapest models often do not have it.
Is wireless charging slower than a cable?
Usually yes, because some energy is lost as heat between the coils. The difference depends on the charger's power and on the phone. A cable is still faster when you are in a hurry, while a wireless charger is convenient for daily top-ups on a desk or bedside table.
Does a phone case stop wireless charging?
A thin plastic or silicone case normally does not. A thick case, metal parts or a wallet attached to the back of the phone can slow charging down or stop it. In that case it is better to take the case off.
Can one charger power a phone and earbuds?
Yes, if you choose a multi-device model or a pad with enough surface for two devices. The earbuds must support wireless charging, which is stated on their case and in the manufacturer's description. Watches often need a dedicated charging spot from their own maker, so check that separately.
