How to choose a phone holder
Where you will use it. A desk stand, a car mount and a stand with wireless charging are different products. In cars the phone is usually fixed to an air vent, the windscreen or the dashboard, while a desk stand depends on its weight and a non-slip base.
Phone size and case. Check how wide a phone the holder accepts, especially if you use a thick case or a large screen. A clamp may not open far enough for a heavy-duty case, and a magnetic holder needs magnets in the phone or case, or a stick-on metal plate.
Angle and stability. An adjustable tilt makes video calls and recipes easier to follow. A stand should not wobble when you touch the screen, so look at the weight of the base and its rubber feet. In a car, the holder must not block your view of the road or the controls.
Charging and connections. If you want to charge the phone as well, choose a model with wireless charging that matches your phone (Qi or MagSafe). A plain stand should leave the charging port free, so you can plug in a cable without taking the phone off.

How do I choose a phone holder for a car?
Start with the mounting point: air vent, windscreen or dashboard. Then check that the holder fits your phone's size and case. It should not block your view of the road or reach of the controls.
Will a holder fit a phone with a case?
Usually yes, if the case fits within the holder's opening width or the phone is held by magnets. A thick or reinforced case may not fit a clamp. A magnetic holder needs a magnet ring in the case or a stick-on metal plate.
Do MagSafe holders work with Android phones?
They only grip a phone that contains magnets. Many Android phones do not, but you can use a case with built-in magnets or a stick-on plate. Wireless charging over Qi works independently of the magnets, provided the phone supports it.
Can I charge my phone while it is in a holder?
Yes, if the holder has wireless charging or leaves the charging port accessible. A plain stand does not charge anything by itself, so the phone needs a cable. For a wireless charging model, check that it supports your phone's standard.
