This category covers handheld cordless window vacuums that collect dirty water from glass, and window-cleaning robots that move across the pane on their own. They suit flats and houses with large windows, glass doors or balconies. KARCHER and ECOVACS have the most models, alongside ETA, BOSCH, LEIFHEIT and CECOTEC.
Our range includes over 40 models, from simple window vacuums to automatic robots.
How to choose a window cleaner or robot
Type of device. A window vacuum is a handheld tool: you guide it across the glass and a rubber blade draws the dirty water into a small tank. A robot holds itself to the glass with suction and cleans without help, which is more convenient for large, high or awkward windows. For two or three windows, a window vacuum is usually quicker to set up.
Window size and shape. Robots need a minimum glass area. In our range some models work from 22 x 25 cm, while others need at least 30 x 40 cm. For small windows, such as in a bathroom or kitchen, pick a robot with a smaller minimum size. For frameless glass, such as balcony panels or glass partitions, check that the manufacturer states the robot can detect the edge.
Power and safety. Window vacuums mostly run on a rechargeable battery, so there is no cable to deal with. Many window robots have a safety rope and a backup battery that keeps the robot on the glass if the power is cut. Check that the rope is long enough for your window before you buy.
Noise. Some models list their noise level, at 63 dB and 68 dB. The difference is noticeable if the robot works while someone is at home working or resting.
Accessories and consumables. Many window vacuums need replaceable microfibre pads, a spray bottle or cleaning fluid. Robots often use separate cleaning pads, so see whether they come in the box.

Frequently asked questions
Is a window vacuum better than a window-cleaning robot?
It depends on how many windows you have and how easy they are to reach. A window vacuum suits regular cleaning of a few windows and lets you control the result yourself. A robot saves time when there is a lot of glass, or when panes are large and hard to reach.
Can a window-cleaning robot fall off the glass?
A robot holds on with suction, and many models have a safety rope and a backup battery that works if the power fails. The rope should always be fixed to a secure point, especially on upper floors. Dirty or wet glass can weaken the grip, so wipe the edges before you start.
What window size does a robot need?
That is set by the minimum window size, which differs by model. In our range some robots need at least 22 x 25 cm, while others need 30 x 40 cm. Measure the smallest window you plan to clean before you buy.
How do I avoid streaks after cleaning windows?
Keep the blade and pad clean, and avoid cleaning glass in direct sunlight. Wipe the blade with a dry cloth after each pass. If the glass is very dirty, wash it with cleaning fluid first and only then use the window vacuum.
