OLED TVs

OLED TVs suit people who watch films and series in a dimmed room or play on a games console and want deep black and strong contrast. Our range includes more than 80 models with screen sizes from 42 to 83 inches. Most are from LG, Samsung and Philips, with some from Sony and Panasonic.

How to choose an OLED TV

Screen size. The most common sizes in our range are 55 inches (139.7 cm) and 65 inches (165.1 cm), but there are also 42, 48, 77 and 83 inch models. If you sit about 2.5 m from the screen, 55 or 65 inches works well. Go for 77 inches or more if you sit further back or want a cinema feel.

Room lighting. Each pixel on an OLED screen produces its own light, so black is genuinely black, but peak brightness is generally lower than on the brightest LED TVs. If your living room gets a lot of daylight through large windows, choose a brighter model and think about where the screen will stand. If a static image stays on screen for hours, such as a channel logo or a game menu, keep the burn-in protection features switched on.

Operating system. Our range includes WebOS, Tizen, Google TV and Titan OS. LG uses WebOS and Tizen is Samsung's system, so choosing a brand also means choosing an interface. Check that the apps you use every day are available before you buy.

Sound. Rated speaker power in our range runs from 20 to 70 W (RMS), and many models support Dolby Atmos, with some also offering DTS:X. Very thin cabinets leave little room for speakers, so film fans should consider a soundbar connected through HDMI eARC.

Connections and mounting. Gamers should look for HDMI 2.1, 120 Hz and variable refresh rate (VRR), so check these in the specification. If you plan to hang the TV on a wall, check the mounting pattern: in our range it runs from 300 x 200 to 400 x 400 mm.

Brands we carry

  • LG: one of the first to mass-produce OLED TVs, it makes up the largest part of our range and uses the WebOS system.
  • Samsung: uses its own Tizen system, and some of its OLED models use QD-OLED panels, which rely on quantum dots to produce colour.
  • Philips: known for Ambilight, a backlight on the rear of the TV that casts the screen's colours onto the wall.
  • Sony and Panasonic: both are known for cinema-style picture tuning and natural colour reproduction.

OLED TV questions answered

What is the difference between OLED and LED TVs?

On an OLED screen each pixel makes its own light and can switch off completely, so black is true black and contrast is high. LED TVs light their pixels with a backlight, so black often looks greyer. In a bright room, the brightest LED models can look punchier.

Is burn-in a risk with an OLED TV?

The risk is real but small with normal, varied viewing. Burn-in can appear if the same static image is shown for many hours, for example a game health bar or a channel logo. Modern OLED TVs include protection features, and it is worth leaving them on.

What size OLED TV should I buy?

For most living rooms, 55 or 65 inches suits a seating distance of about 2.5 m. A smaller 42 or 48 inch model makes sense for a bedroom or study. The 77 and 83 inch sizes are meant for large rooms and longer viewing distances.

Is an OLED TV good for games consoles?

Yes, gamers value OLED for its very fast pixel response and high contrast. Before buying, check that the model has HDMI 2.1 connections, 120 Hz and VRR support, because these decide whether you can make full use of the latest consoles.
