Our hair dryers category includes classic corded hair dryers and models with an ionic function, suited to short and long hair alike. The range has over 250 models, with the largest selections from PHILIPS, DREAME, REMINGTON and BaByliss.
How to choose a hair dryer
Power. Hair dryers in our range run from 1200 W to 2300 W, with 1600 W and 2100 W models among the more common. Long or thick hair dries faster with 2000 W or more, while short hair is perfectly well served by a mid-power model.
Speeds and heat settings. You will find models with anything from one to eight airflow speeds and from one to six heat levels. Two or three settings are usually enough for everyday drying, while extra levels help if your hair is fine, coloured or sensitive to heat.
Ionic function. Ionisation reduces static, so hair frizzes less and is easier to comb. Many of our hair dryers have it, and it is most useful for dry, curly or flyaway hair.
Cool shot. A cool shot button cools the hair at the end of drying and helps set the style. Most hair dryers in our range include it, so it is reasonable to treat it as a standard feature.
Cord length. A 1.8 m cord is the most common, though some models have 1.5 m and others 2.2 m. A longer cord is handy when the socket is far from the mirror.

Frequently asked questions
What power hair dryer should I buy?
For everyday use, a hair dryer of 1600 to 2200 W is usually enough. Long and thick hair suits 2000 W or more, because it dries faster. Short or fine hair can manage with less power, especially if the dryer has several heat settings.
Do I need an ionic hair dryer?
You do not need one, but ionisation helps if your hair tends to get static or frizzy. The ions neutralise static charge, so hair looks smoother after drying. If your hair rarely frizzes, a simpler model will do.
What is the cool shot button for?
The cool shot button cools your hair after drying and helps hold the style. Hair takes its shape when heated and sets as it cools, so a blast of cool air makes the result last longer. It can also be used briefly to cool the scalp.
How can I dry my hair without damaging it?
Choose a medium heat setting and keep the dryer about a hand's width from your hair. Squeeze out excess water with a towel first and keep the dryer moving. Finish with cool air, since hair that is exposed to high heat for long periods dries out faster.
