This category covers epilators and light-based (IPL) hair removal devices for removing hair from legs, arms, underarms and other areas at home. Our range includes over 80 models from brands such as Braun, Philips, Rowenta and Silk'n. They suit anyone who finds shaving too frequent and salon appointments too much to keep up.
How to choose an epilator or hair removal device
Method. An epilator pulls hairs out by the root, so skin stays smooth for several weeks, though you will feel it. An IPL device uses pulses of light to weaken hair growth gradually, so it takes several sessions, but the sensation is usually milder. If you want a result straight away, choose an epilator. If a longer-lasting effect matters more and you are patient, IPL is worth considering.
Skin and hair type. IPL devices work best on light to medium skin tones with darker hair. Blonde, grey or red hairs respond poorly or not at all. Check the skin tones the manufacturer lists as suitable before buying. An epilator has no such limits.
Power source. Our range includes models that run only from the mains, models that run only on a battery, and a few that can be used either way. A cordless device is handier when travelling or in the shower, while a mains model means you do not need to watch the charge during a longer session.
Wet use. Models the manufacturer approves for use in the shower or on wet skin are generally less uncomfortable, and they are easy to rinse clean afterwards. Always check this in the product description.
Attachments. Heads for sensitive areas, underarms or the face let one device look after the whole body. Epilators often come with a shaving head or massage attachments, while for IPL devices the number of light pulses and the size of the flash window matter.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an epilator and an IPL device?
An epilator mechanically pulls hairs out by the root, while an IPL device uses pulses of light on the hair root to weaken growth over time. The epilator result is visible immediately, and hair usually grows back after a few weeks. IPL needs several sessions, but the gaps between treatments can generally become longer afterwards.
Does epilating hurt?
Yes, epilating is usually noticeable, especially the first time and on sensitive areas such as the underarms or bikini line. Wet-use models, a slower speed and regular use all help, because hair tends to grow back finer and sparser over time. IPL is usually felt as a brief warm or prickling sensation.
Does an IPL device work on light hair?
No, blonde, grey or red hairs respond poorly to IPL because the light works through the pigment in the hair. The best results come on darker hair on light to medium skin tones. For light hair an epilator is the more dependable choice, since it works regardless of hair colour.
Should I choose a cordless or a mains-powered device?
A cordless model is more convenient for travel and for use in the shower, while a mains model does not depend on battery charge. Our range includes both types and a few models that work either way. If you will use it only occasionally, cordless is enough. For longer sessions, a mains or dual-power model is the safer option.
