Vacuum sealers remove air from food packaging: at home they keep ingredients fresh for longer and let you prepare portions for the week ahead. Our range includes over 50 models, with brands such as CASO, GASTROBACK, FOODSAVER and AENO.
How to choose a vacuum sealer
Type of sealer. Most household vacuum sealers are external: the open edge of the bag is placed in the machine, the air is drawn out and the edge is heat-sealed. A chamber sealer takes the whole bag inside and copes better with soups and marinades, but it is larger and built for heavier use.
Sealing bar and bag size. The width of the sealing bar sets the widest bag you can close. If you plan to pack whole fish, large cuts of meat or many portions at once, choose a wider bar and check that bag rolls will fit.
Modes for dry and moist food. Marinated or moist food needs its own mode, so that liquid stays out of the pump and the seal stays clean. A pulse function lets you stop the process by hand, which protects bread, berries and delicate biscuits from being crushed.
Pump and duty cycle. An occasional user will be fine with a simple pump. If you seal many bags in a row, look for a model that does not overheat or demand long breaks between cycles.
Accessories. A hose lets you vacuum special containers and bottle stoppers. A built-in roll holder with a cutter means you can make a bag to the exact length without scissors.

Vacuum sealer FAQ
Can I use any bags with a vacuum sealer?
Not always. Most external models need bags with a ribbed or textured side so that the air can be drawn out fully. Smooth bags are usually meant for chamber sealers, so check the manufacturer's guidance before buying.
Can a vacuum sealer pack liquids and soups?
Not easily with an external machine, because liquid can be pulled towards the pump. It is best to freeze the liquid first and then seal it, or to choose a chamber model. Some external sealers have a moist food mode, but it is meant for slightly damp food rather than liquid.
Does vacuum-sealed food last longer?
Yes, because with less air, food oxidises more slowly and suffers less freezer burn. Vacuum sealing does not replace cooling: perishable food still has to be kept in the fridge or freezer.
Can I use a vacuum sealer for sous vide cooking?
Yes, a bag sealed with a vacuum sealer can be cooked in a water bath. Use bags rated for heat, and make sure the seal is tight so that no water gets inside.
