Milk frothers

Milk frothers

Milk frothers are for anyone who wants to make cappuccino, latte or hot chocolate with a smooth layer of foam at home. Our range includes over 20 models, among them ADLER, Bialetti, G3 Ferrari, SEVERIN and Ariete.

How to choose a milk frother

Type of frother. Handheld frothers are simple, take up little space and whisk milk straight in a cup or pan. Jug-type devices on a base often heat and froth the milk on their own, so you do not have to stand at the hob.

Capacity. Our range includes models with a frothing capacity of 150 ml or 250 ml, and milk containers from 0.14 L to 0.3 L. A smaller jug is enough for one cup of cappuccino, but if you make coffee for two, look for at least 250 ml of frothing capacity. Milk expands as it froths, so fill only up to the marked level.

Heating. Most jug-type frothers both warm and froth milk, and some let you heat without making foam. If you mostly make iced coffee or matcha, a frother without heating will do.

Type of milk. Milk with protein and some fat gives the most stable foam, so ordinary cow's milk is the easiest to work with. Plant-based drinks froth less consistently, and barista versions made for coffee usually give better results.

Cleaning. A removable jug with a non-stick coating is easier to wash, because dried milk is hard to remove. A handheld whisk only needs rinsing under running water straight after use.

Brands in our range

  • Bialetti: an Italian maker best known for the Moka Express stovetop coffee maker, so its frothers pair naturally with espresso-style coffee.
  • Zwilling: a German company from Solingen that has made knives and kitchenware since 1731.
  • Melitta: a German coffee brand founded by Melitta Bentz, who invented the paper coffee filter.
  • Philips: a well-known household appliance maker that also offers coffee machines with built-in milk frothing systems.
  • SEVERIN: a German small appliance manufacturer with a long-standing range of kitchen products.
  • Ariete and G3 Ferrari: Italian brands making small kitchen appliances, including coffee and milk preparation equipment.

You will also find products from ADLER, Esperanza, Camry, ETA and ELDOM.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a handheld frother and a jug-type frother?

A handheld frother only whisks milk in a cup or pan, so you need to warm the milk separately. A jug-type frother usually heats and froths the milk itself and gives a more even result. The handheld type is cheaper and smaller, while the jug type is more convenient if you make foam every day.

Can you froth plant-based milk?

Yes, many plant-based drinks can be frothed, but the foam varies. Drinks with less protein produce lighter foam that collapses sooner. Versions labelled as barista, made for coffee, usually work best.

How much milk should I put in a milk frother?

Fill it no higher than the level marked inside the jug. Milk grows in volume as it froths, so overfilling can make it spill over. If a model has a frothing capacity of 150 ml but a larger heating capacity, follow the lower figure whenever you want foam.

How do you clean a milk frother?

Rinse it straight after use, before the milk residue dries. Wash a removable jug and whisk in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid. Never immerse the electrical base in water, just wipe it with a damp cloth.
