Electric kettles for the home, office or holiday cabin: our range has over 500 models, from basic plastic kettles to stainless steel and glass ones. Brands include Maestro, Adler, ETA, Bosch, Tefal, Smeg and KitchenAid. Most kettles are cordless and sit on a 360° base, so you can lift them from any side.
How to choose an electric kettle
Capacity. The size found most often in our range is 1.7 L, with 1.5 L, 1.25 L and 1 L models also available. A 1.7 L kettle suits a family or an office, while 1 L is enough for one or two cups. Do not fill below the minimum mark when boiling a small amount.
Power. Among models with a listed power, 2400 W and 2200 W appear most often, and there are also 2000 W and lower-rated kettles. More power boils water faster, but the difference between 2200 and 2400 W is barely noticeable day to day. Check the load on your socket circuit if you run other appliances on it.
Housing material. Our kettles come in plastic, stainless steel, metal, aluminium or glass. Plastic is light, steel keeps its looks for longer, and glass lets you see the water level and any limescale. Single-wall metal and glass kettles can get hot on the outside, so look for a double wall if there are children at home.
Controls and extras. Most kettles in our range use a lever, some have buttons and a few have touch controls. If you make tea or coffee at different temperatures, choose a model with a temperature setting. Automatic switch-off once the water boils and boil-dry protection matter most, and you will find them on most modern kettles.

Electric kettle FAQ
What size electric kettle should I buy?
A 1.7 L kettle suits a family or an office, while 1 L or 1.25 L is enough for one or two people. A larger kettle boils enough for several cups at once. If you usually make a single cup, a smaller model uses less energy.
How many watts should a kettle have?
For most homes, a kettle rated between 2000 and 2400 W is enough. Higher power boils water faster, but the gap between 2200 and 2400 W is small. The right capacity and safety features matter more than the wattage alone.
Is a plastic, steel or glass kettle better?
It depends on your priorities. Plastic kettles are light, steel ones resist knocks, and glass lets you see the water and limescale. Whatever the material, a good kettle should have a tight-fitting lid and no lingering plastic smell.
How do I descale an electric kettle?
Fill the kettle with water and citric acid or white vinegar, bring it to the boil and leave it for about half an hour. Then pour the solution away and rinse the kettle several times with clean water. Repeat whenever a layer of limescale appears on the walls or heating element.
