The photo and video lighting category covers lights and related equipment for shooting stills and video at home, in a small studio or on location. The selection is currently small and consists of products from NEEWER and REFLECTA. Extra light helps with portraits, product photos, video calls and live streams.
How to choose photo and video lighting
Type of light. Continuous LED light lets you see shadows and colours straight away, so it works for both stills and video. A flash delivers more power for a split second, but it takes more experience to use and cannot be used for filming.
Brightness and control. A brighter light is needed when you shoot from further away or when the room has a lot of daylight. A small light is enough for a compact room or video calls, as long as the brightness can be adjusted in steps or smoothly.
Colour temperature and CRI. Adjustable colour temperature lets you match the light to room lamps or window light. The higher the CRI value, the more accurately skin tones and product colours are reproduced, which matters for portraits and shop photos.
Power and mounting. Mains power suits a permanent setup, while a battery or USB power lets you take the light on location. Check for a thread to fit a stand or tripod, and whether you can attach a diffuser or another light-shaping accessory.

Frequently asked questions about photo and video lighting
What lighting do I need for video calls and streaming?
One soft LED light placed in front of your face and slightly above eye level is usually enough. The light should fall on you from the front, because light from behind turns your face into a dark silhouette. Adjustable brightness helps you balance the picture against the room lighting.
What is the difference between an LED light and a flash?
An LED light stays on, so you see shadows and colours immediately, and it can be used for filming. A flash fires for only a moment but gives far more light, which helps with moving subjects and bright surroundings. For video you need continuous light.
What do colour temperature and CRI mean?
Colour temperature, measured in kelvins, describes the tint of the light: lower values look warmer and higher values look cooler. CRI shows how accurately a light reproduces colours. A higher value is more useful when skin tones or true product colours matter.
Do I need a stand or a diffuser for a photo light?
A stand or tripod is almost essential if you want to place the light at face level or next to a subject rather than hold it. A diffuser or softbox softens shadows, which is especially helpful for portraits. Before buying, check that the light has a standard mounting thread.
