How to choose a tripod or selfie stick
Purpose. A camera with a lens needs a full-size tripod, while a phone or action camera is often fine on a small tabletop tripod or a selfie stick. For night shots, long exposures and interviews choose a stable tripod, and for filming yourself on a trip take a stick.
Load capacity. A tripod must hold the weight of the camera, lens and accessories with some margin. Heavy kit with a telephoto lens or a mounted microphone needs sturdier legs and a higher rated load, while a light phone can go on a simpler model.
Material and weight. Our range includes aluminium, plastic and carbon models. Aluminium is rigid and copes well with load, carbon is lighter and absorbs vibration better but usually costs more, and plastic suits light phone holders and small tripods.
