The photo studio lighting and backdrops category covers continuous LED lights, studio flashes, softboxes, umbrellas, light stands and photographic backgrounds. It suits content creators, small studios and shops that photograph their own products. Our range has over 160 items, including products from NEEWER, GODOX, HAMA and WALIMEX.
How to choose studio lighting and backdrops
Continuous light or flash. An LED light stays on all the time, so you see the shadows immediately, and it works for both photos and video. A studio flash delivers a much stronger burst of light and freezes movement, but it cannot be used for filming. If you shoot video, choose LED. If you mainly photograph portraits or products, a flash is worth considering.
Power and light quality. Small product shots need only a low-power light, while portraits and larger scenes need more output. On LED models, look for adjustable colour temperature and a high colour rendering index (CRI), so that skin tones and product colours look natural.
Shaping the light. A softboxes, umbrella or diffuser softens shadows, while reflectors and grids direct light more narrowly. Check the mount type before buying: many studio lights use the Bowens mount, but always confirm compatibility.
Backdrop size and colour. The backdrop must fill the frame around your subject, so a full-length portrait needs a much larger background than product photos. Our range includes black, white, grey, green, blue and yellow items. Green is used for chroma key effects, while white or grey gives a neutral background.
Stands and power. Check the stand height and its maximum load, especially if you plan to hang a large softbox on it. If you work outside a studio, a light that can run from a battery or an external power source is useful.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose an LED light or a flash for a home studio?
For beginners and anyone who films, an LED light is the simpler option because you see the lighting in real time. A studio flash is useful when you photograph portraits or moving subjects and need a lot of light. You cannot film with a flash.
How many lights do I need for a portrait?
One main light with a softbox is usually enough for a portrait. A second light or a reflector softens the shadows, and a third is often used to light the background. You can start with a single light and add more equipment later.
What colour backdrop is best for product photography?
White is the most common choice for product photos because it does not distort the colours of the item and is easy to edit. A grey or black backdrop helps light-coloured objects stand out. A green backdrop is only needed if you plan to replace it with another image later.
Do I really need a softbox?
No, but it noticeably improves light quality. A light without a modifier casts hard shadows, while a softbox or umbrella spreads the light and gives a softer, more natural look. The difference is especially clear in portraits and photos of shiny products.
