Action cameras are made for filming on the move: cycling, skiing, swimming or travelling. Our range has over 170 models, from classic action cameras to 360-degree cameras, with Insta360, GoPro, SJCAM and DJI as the main brands.
You will find simple models for a first try and more advanced cameras for demanding shooting.
How to choose an action camera
Resolution and frame rate. 4K is now standard and lets you crop a frame later without losing sharpness. A higher frame rate, such as 120 frames per second, is needed for slow motion, though cameras often drop to a lower resolution in that mode.
Stabilisation. Electronic stabilisation smooths out shake when cycling, running or skiing. If you film while moving fast, choose a model with advanced stabilisation, because it largely decides whether the footage is pleasant to watch.
Waterproofing and durability. Most action cameras handle water without an extra housing, but the permitted depth varies, so check the limit stated by the manufacturer. For deeper diving you may need a separate waterproof case.
Camera type. A classic action camera films in one direction and is the simplest option. A 360-degree camera captures everything around you, and you choose the framing and angle after filming, which is handy when you do not want to think about aiming.
Battery and storage. Filming in 4K drains the battery faster than ordinary shooting, so a spare is worth having. Most cameras use microSD cards, and high resolutions need a card that is fast enough.

Frequently asked questions about action cameras
How is an action camera different from an ordinary camcorder?
An action camera is smaller, lighter and designed to be mounted on a helmet, handlebars or chest. Most models withstand water, dust and knocks, and the wide-angle lens fits more of the surroundings into the frame. They usually offer less zoom than an ordinary camcorder.
Are action cameras waterproof?
Many action cameras handle water without an extra housing, but not all of them do. The permitted depth differs between models, so check the manufacturer's limit before diving. For deeper dives a separate waterproof case is often used.
What memory card does an action camera need?
Most action cameras use microSD cards. When filming in 4K, choose a fast card that the manufacturer lists as suitable for that mode, since a slow card can interrupt recording. Pick the capacity according to how many hours of footage you plan to keep.
Is a 360-degree camera better than a classic action camera?
A 360-degree camera is worth choosing if you want to film without worrying about aim and pick the framing afterwards. A classic action camera is simpler to use and gets a video ready faster, because there is no reframing step. If you only film straight ahead, for example while cycling, a classic camera is enough.
