Laptop bags and briefcases

This category covers laptop bags and briefcases: classic briefcases, toploader bags, messenger bags and trolley cases. Our range includes over 800 models from brands such as DICOTA, RIVACASE, THULE and WENGER. They suit anyone who carries a laptop to the office, lectures or business trips every day.

How to choose a laptop bag or briefcase

Screen size. Check your laptop's screen diagonal first, because a bag's capacity is stated as the largest size it fits. Our range includes bags for 14, 15.6 and 16-inch laptops in particular, as well as 14.1, 16.2 and 17.3-inch models. A bag that is too big lets the laptop slide around and knock against the sides.

Bag type. A classic briefcase suits documents and formal dress, a toploader lets you take the laptop out without emptying the bag, and a messenger bag is handy in the city. If you travel often, consider a trolley case. Sleeves and slip cases are designed to go inside another bag or backpack and do not free up your hands on their own.

Protection. Look for a padded laptop compartment, reinforced corners and a base that keeps the laptop off the floor. Bags are often put down on the ground, so the thickness of the base matters more than the outer styling.

Comfort when carrying. Most bags in our range have a shoulder strap. An adjustable strap with a soft pad is better, since a 15.6-inch laptop with its charger is noticeably heavy. If you travel, a sleeve that slips over a suitcase handle is useful.

Compatibility and pockets. Some bags are listed as universal or suitable for any brand, while others are made for Dell, HP, Lenovo or Acer laptops. What counts is the dimensions, not the name on the label. Check whether there are separate spaces for the charger, mouse and documents.

Frequently asked questions

What size bag does a 15.6-inch laptop need?

You need a bag stated to fit a 15.6-inch screen or larger. A smaller laptop will fit but shift about inside, so the closest match is best. If your laptop is thick or you own a 16-inch model, check the compartment dimensions too.

What is the difference between a toploader and a classic briefcase?

A toploader opens from the top, so the laptop comes out in one movement, while a classic briefcase usually opens wider and has more compartments for papers. A toploader suits quick use on the move or in lectures. A briefcase is more convenient when you also carry folders and notebooks.

Will a bag made for Dell or HP fit another brand of laptop?

Usually yes, provided the screen size and thickness match. The brand name generally reflects the design and branding, not a restriction that stops another laptop fitting. Universal models are made for laptops from different manufacturers.

How do I protect a laptop in a bag from knocks?

Choose a bag with a padded laptop compartment, reinforced corners and a raised base. Keep the laptop in its own section, away from keys and other hard objects. A sleeve placed inside the bag adds further protection.
