Laptop power adapters

This category covers laptop power adapters: original and compatible chargers with a round connector, USB-C chargers, universal adapters and external power supplies. They suit anyone who needs a spare or replacement charger. Our range includes over 6000 models, with products from 2-POWER, DELL, LENOVO, HP and ASUS among the leading names.

How to choose a laptop power adapter

Wattage (W). The new adapter should be rated at least as high as the one printed on your old charger. A higher-rated adapter is safe, because the laptop only draws what it needs, while a weaker one may run hot or fail to keep up with charging. Our range includes adapters up to 50 W, 60–85 W, 90–135 W and high-power models of 150 W and above for gaming and workstation laptops.

Output voltage. It has to match the original adapter exactly, so read the label first. In our range 19 V, 19.5 V, 20 V and 18 V are the most common values, and there are also 15 V and 12 V adapters.

Connector. Round connectors differ in outer and inner diameter, and some have an extra centre pin that lets the laptop identify the adapter. A USB-C charger works only if the laptop itself supports charging over USB-C. Universal adapters with interchangeable tips are handy when you need to power several different laptops.

Original or compatible. An original adapter is made by the laptop manufacturer, so it matches your model precisely. Compatible adapters often cover several models, so check the wattage, voltage and connector type.

Input voltage and travel. Most modern adapters accept 100–240 V mains, and models rated 100–240 V or 110–240 V dominate our range. When travelling you only need the right plug. A small number of adapters are designed for use in a car.

Brands in our range

  • DELL: many Dell adapters have a centre pin through which the laptop reads the charger's wattage, so an incompatible adapter may be recognised as underpowered.
  • LENOVO: newer models use a rectangular slim-tip connector or USB-C, so check which one your laptop takes before buying.
  • HP: many HP laptops use a round connector with a centre pin, and newer ones are often charged over USB-C.
  • ASUS: makes adapters for both thin everyday laptops and powerful gaming models that need higher-wattage chargers.
  • ACER: often uses 19 V adapters with a round connector, so both original and compatible versions are widespread.
  • 2-POWER and COREPARTS: known as suppliers of compatible replacement parts, including adapters for laptops from many manufacturers.

Also in our range: QOLTEC, AKYGA, TOSHIBA and HP ENTERPRISE. Besides standard adapters sorted by wattage, you will find USB-C chargers, universal adapters, external power supplies and networking and DC power supplies.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which adapter fits my laptop?

Check the label on your old adapter or the details printed on the underside of the laptop. You need the output voltage (V), the wattage (W) and the connector type. You can also search by the exact laptop model name.

Can I use a higher-wattage adapter?

Yes, provided the voltage and connector match. The laptop draws only the current it needs, so a higher-rated adapter does no harm. A lower-rated charger, on the other hand, may charge too slowly or overheat.

Can I charge a laptop over USB-C?

Only if its USB-C port supports charging. The charger must then deliver enough power, and many laptops need far more than a phone does. If your laptop has a round charging socket, a USB-C charger will not fit.

Can I replace an original adapter with a compatible one?

Usually yes, as long as the wattage, voltage and connector match the original. Some laptops check the adapter through a centre pin, so an incompatible model may charge more slowly or show a warning. Compare every detail on the label before buying.
