This category covers laptop protection and carrying gear: hardshell cases, sleeves, covers, bags and backpacks. It suits anyone who takes a laptop to the office, lectures or on business trips. Our range includes over 70 products, with ESTUFF, URBAN ARMOR GEAR, BLACK ROCK and INCIPIO among the leading brands.
How to choose a laptop case, bag or backpack
Size and compatibility. A case has to match the dimensions of your laptop, not just the screen diagonal, so check the exact model. Our range includes cases for 12.3, 13, 13.3, 14, 15 and 16-inch laptops, with 13, 13.3 and 14-inch sizes especially common. Some cases are made for Apple, Microsoft, HP or Dell laptops, while others are universal.
Type of protection. A hardshell case clips straight onto the laptop body and guards against scratches and knocks, even while you are using it. A sleeve protects the laptop only while it is being carried, but it slips easily into a backpack or briefcase. Hardshell cases make up the largest group in our range, followed by sleeves and covers.
Bag, backpack or case. If you carry a laptop every day along with a charger, papers and lunch, a backpack or bag with a separate laptop compartment makes more sense. If you already own a bag, a slim sleeve is enough. Backpacks are fewer in our range than cases.
Materials and finish. Look for a soft lining that will not scratch the screen and a sturdy zip. Water-resistant fabric helps if you commute in all weathers. Some hardshell cases are transparent, so the laptop's own colour stays visible.

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose a case for my laptop size?
Start with the screen diagonal in your laptop's specification, for example 13.3 or 14 inches. Then check that the case description lists your model or at least laptops of that size. Two laptops with the same screen size can differ in thickness, so a case will not always fit both.
What is the difference between a hardshell case and a sleeve?
A hardshell case clips onto the laptop and protects it during use and carrying, while a sleeve is a pouch the laptop goes into only for transport. A hardshell case guards better against scratches, but a thicker sleeve cushions the laptop better against drops and pressure inside a bag. Some people use both together.
Will a universal case fit my laptop?
A universal case fits if your laptop's dimensions fall within the stated size limit, whatever the manufacturer. These are usually sleeves and sit a little looser than a case made for one specific model. If you want a snug fit, choose a case made for your laptop's brand.
Do I need a case if I already carry my laptop in a backpack?
A case is still worthwhile, because it protects the laptop from scratches caused by keys, chargers and other items in the bag. If your backpack has a padded laptop compartment, a slim sleeve may be enough. When the laptop travels often with other items, a thicker case is the safer choice.
