Racing wheels and pedals

Racing wheels and pedals

This category contains racing wheels, pedal sets and wheel-and-pedal bundles for consoles and PCs, for anyone who wants more precise control in racing games than a gamepad allows. Our range of over 80 models includes Logitech, Thrustmaster, Moza Racing and Next Level Racing.

How to choose a racing wheel and pedals

Compatibility. Start by deciding what the wheel will be used with: PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch or a PC. Many wheels work only with certain consoles, so check your console generation and whether your favourite games are supported. In our range, wheels connect over USB, and some also need a mains adapter for power.

Force feedback. A wheel with a force feedback motor lets you feel cornering and road surface, while simpler models just turn against a spring. Entry-level wheels usually use gears or belts, whereas more expensive simulator wheels use a direct drive motor that delivers stronger and more detailed feedback. Whether you need that depends on whether you play arcade-style or realistic racing games.

Pedals and shifter. Two pedals, accelerator and brake, are enough for most games, and some sets add a third pedal for the clutch. A brake pedal with a load cell responds to how hard you press rather than how far it travels, which makes braking easier to judge than with a spring-based pedal. Our range includes wheels without pedals, wheels with pedals, and wheels with pedals and a gear shifter, so decide beforehand whether you want a manual gearbox.

Mounting and space. Most wheels clamp to a desk, but strong feedback can move the desk, and pedals tend to slide across a hard floor. If you play often, consider a foldable stand or a racing seat with a frame. Also think about where the wheel will be stored when you are not playing.

Brands in our range

  • Logitech: its G series force feedback wheels are among the most popular entry-level and mid-range choices for consoles and PCs.
  • Thrustmaster: known for its T series wheels and pedals, which can be extended with separate accessories such as a gear shifter.
  • Moza Racing: specialises in direct drive wheel bases that can be paired with different wheel rims and pedals.
  • Next Level Racing: makes simulator frames and cockpits that hold the wheel, pedals and seat in one rigid setup.
  • Playseat: known for racing seats, some of which fold away after play.
  • Wheel Stand Pro: offers foldable stands for the wheel and pedals, so they do not need to be clamped to a desk.
  • Nintendo: makes official accessories for racing games on Nintendo Switch, such as Joy-Con wheels.

Also in our range: Flashfire, Thermaltake, Esperanza, Genesis and Speedlink.

Frequently asked questions

Does one racing wheel work with both PlayStation and Xbox?

Not always, as it depends on the manufacturer. Some wheels support several platforms, but many are made for one console family plus PC. Check the supported devices in the product description and your console generation before buying.

What is the difference between gear, belt and direct drive wheels?

They differ in how the motor turns the wheel and how precise the feedback feels. Gear drive is the simplest and most common in cheaper wheels, belt drive is usually quieter and smoother, and direct drive connects the motor straight to the wheel shaft for the most detail. Direct drive wheels cost more and are aimed at serious simulator use.

Is a load cell brake pedal worth having?

Yes, if you play simulators and want to control braking consistently. A load cell measures pressure rather than pedal travel, so it is easier to repeat the same braking force lap after lap. For casual racing games, simpler pedals are often enough.

Can I use a racing wheel without a stand or seat?

Yes, most wheels clamp to a desk and the pedals sit on the floor. That works for occasional play, although strong feedback can shift the desk. For regular use, a foldable stand or a frame with a seat is more stable.
