Mouse mats and wrist rests are for anyone who spends long hours at a computer, whether working in an office, at home or gaming. The category covers mouse mats and wrist rests for the keyboard or mouse. Brands include LogiLink, Fellowes, Ergotron and Leitz, along with a Nintendo accessory.
How to choose a mouse mat or wrist rest
Size. A standard mat is enough for everyday office work. If you game at low mouse sensitivity with wide sweeping movements, a larger mat stops the mouse running off the edge. Measure the free space on your desk first, especially if the keyboard and mouse sit close together.
Surface. A cloth surface usually lets the mouse glide smoothly and accurately, while a harder, smoother surface tends to be faster and easier to wipe clean. With an optical or laser mouse, avoid mirror-like or very glossy surfaces, because the sensor can track poorly on them.
Wrist rest material and height. Gel or memory foam is softer and more comfortable over long typing sessions. The rest should be about the same height as the keyboard or mouse: one that is too tall bends the wrist instead of relaxing it.
Base and purpose. A rubber non-slip base keeps the mat or rest from creeping, which matters on a glass or polished desk. Our range includes simple everyday accessories as well as ergonomic solutions, so decide in advance whether you only need a mouse surface or longer-term wrist support.

Frequently asked questions
Do I really need a wrist rest?
Not everyone does, but it helps if you type a lot or use a mouse for hours at a time. A wrist rest keeps the wrist close to a straight position and reduces pressure from the desk edge. If you have persistent pain, see a doctor, as a wrist rest will not solve the underlying problem.
What size of mouse mat should I choose?
It depends on your desk and how you move the mouse. A standard mat is usually enough for office work, while a larger one suits wide movements and can also hold the keyboard. Pick a size that fits within the free space on your desk.
Is any mouse mat suitable for an optical mouse?
Yes, most optical and laser mice work well on ordinary matt mats. Problems mainly appear on mirror-like, glass or very glossy surfaces. If the cursor jumps, try a mat with a different surface.
How do I clean a mouse mat or wrist rest?
Usually a damp cloth with a little mild detergent is enough. Some manufacturers allow cloth mats to be hand washed, but check the product description first. Let the surface dry completely before using it again.
