How to choose an SSD
Interface. Check which connection your computer or server supports first. SATA drives read at around 560 MB/s, PCI Express 3.0 and 4.0 models reach several thousand MB/s (our range includes read speeds of up to 6000 MB/s), and SAS is intended for servers and disk arrays.
Form factor. An M.2 drive fits straight into a slot on the motherboard, while a 2.5-inch drive connects with cables like a traditional hard drive. Our range includes M.2, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives. An M.2 slot may support SATA or PCI Express, so check the specification of your motherboard or laptop before buying.
Capacity. 256-500 GB is usually enough for an operating system and everyday programs. For games, video or databases, 2 TB or more is worth considering. Server drives in our range reach 3.84 TB.
Memory type and endurance. 3D TLC is the most common memory in standard drives, while MLC memory is generally more durable and is more often chosen for heavier workloads. For servers, look at the MTBF rating: for some models in our range it is 1,500,000 hours.
Purpose and operating conditions. Drives designed for servers and workstations are built for continuous operation, whereas a home PC or laptop usually needs only a standard model. If the drive will run in a warm cabinet or industrial equipment, check the permitted operating temperature: in our range it goes from 0 to 70 °C.

Frequently asked questions about SSDs
What is the difference between an SSD and an HDD?
An SSD stores data in memory chips with no moving parts, so the system starts faster, the drive runs silently and it is less sensitive to knocks. An HDD usually costs less per gigabyte, so it is still useful for large archives.
What is the difference between SATA and M.2 SSDs?
SATA is an interface, while M.2 is a form factor, so the two are not direct alternatives. An M.2 drive may work over SATA or over the faster PCI Express interface. SATA drives top out at around 560 MB/s, while PCI Express models can be several times faster.
What SSD capacity should I choose?
For a system drive, 500 GB is enough for most users, and if you store games or videos, 1-2 TB is a safer choice. Our range runs from 128 GB to 3.84 TB, so there are options from a small boot drive to a large server drive.
Can I use a server SSD in an ordinary PC?
Only if the connection matches. SAS drives need a SAS controller, which standard home PC motherboards usually lack. A server SATA or PCI Express drive will work in an ordinary PC if the board has the right port or slot.
