USB chargers

USB chargers

USB chargers are power adapters for phones, tablets, headphones and other electronics that charge over USB. Our range has over 10 models, with brands including Baseus, Goobay, Delock and CoreParts.

Some chargers are universal, while others are made for specific devices such as smartphones. Power output, connectors and the fast-charging standard are what set them apart.

How to choose a USB charger

Power. Our range runs from 5 W to 20 W. A 5 W charger is enough for headphones or an older phone, 12 W charges a tablet faster, and 20 W suits newer phones with fast charging.

Compatibility. Universal chargers work with a variety of devices, while others are made specifically for smartphones. For fast charging, the device and the charger must support the same standard, such as USB Power Delivery, otherwise charging will be slower.

Connectors. USB-C is found on newer phones and tablets, while USB-A is still common with older cables and accessories. If you plan to charge two devices at once, choose a model with several ports, because the stated power is usually shared between them.

Input voltage. Mains chargers marked 100-240 V or 110-230 V work across Europe, and you may need a plug adapter when travelling elsewhere. Some products list a 5 V input, so check what kind of power source they are meant to be connected to.

Cable. Some chargers are sold without a cable, so check the contents of the package in the product description.

USB chargers: frequently asked questions

What power does a USB charger need for a phone?

A charger of around 20 W is enough for a modern phone, and 5 W will do for an older model. Check the exact figure in your device's specification. A more powerful charger will not harm the phone, because the device draws only as much current as it needs.

Will any USB charger work with my phone?

Usually yes: a weaker charger will still charge the phone, just more slowly. Fast charging needs a matching standard and a suitable cable. Universal chargers are made for a variety of devices, which makes them a simple choice when you have a mix of gadgets at home.

Can I charge several devices with one charger?

Yes, if the charger has several ports. The total power is normally shared, so two devices charging together may be slower than either one alone. Check both the total output and the output of each port before buying.

What is the difference between a USB-A and a USB-C charger?

USB-C is a smaller, symmetrical connector that plugs in either way up, and it is used on newer phones, tablets and laptops. USB-A is rectangular and common on older devices and cables. USB-C more often supports higher power and fast charging.
