This category contains Micro-USB and Mini-USB cables: USB A to Micro-USB B or Mini-USB B leads, USB-C to Micro-USB versions, cables with angled plugs, and a few extension cables and adapters. They suit anyone connecting or charging older phones, cameras, external drives and other devices. Our range holds over 700 products, including Delock, InLine, StarTech.com and Lindy.
How to choose a Micro-USB or Mini-USB cable
Connector type. Micro-USB B is the small, flat plug found on many phones, e-readers, power banks and Bluetooth speakers. Mini-USB B is thicker and trapezoid-shaped, common on older cameras, GPS units and some external drives. The two do not fit each other, so check the port on your device before ordering. Many cables in our range end in Micro-USB B, a good number end in Mini-USB B, and there are Micro-USB A and USB-C variants too.
The other end. This is usually USB A, for a computer or a plug-in charger. If you use a newer laptop or charger with a USB-C port, choose a cable with a USB-C plug so you do not need an extra adapter.
USB version and speed. Most cables in our range are USB 2.0 with a maximum of 480 Mbit/s, which is enough for charging, syncing a phone and copying photos. USB 3.2 Gen 1 cables reach 5 Gbit/s and have a wider Micro-USB B plug, which suits mainly external drives. A few 10 Gbit/s cables are available too. Mini-USB is limited to USB 2.0 speeds.
Length and plug shape. Choose the length by the real distance to the socket, as very long, thin cables can charge more slowly. Most cables have a straight plug, but angled ones are available and help when you use a phone while it charges or when there is little space behind the device.
Contact plating and build. Our range includes cables with nickel-plated and gold-plated contacts. Gold resists oxidation better, so it is worth considering if you plug and unplug often, though nickel is fine for home use. Thicker conductors and shielding reduce voltage loss and interference.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Micro-USB and Mini-USB cables?
The difference is the size and shape of the connector. Micro-USB B is smaller and flat, used on many phones and small devices, while Mini-USB B is thicker and common on older cameras and GPS units. They are not interchangeable, so always check the socket on your device.
Can a Micro-USB cable both charge and transfer data?
Most standard USB cables do both, but some cables are made for charging only. If you need to copy files or sync a device, check that the description states a data transfer rate, such as 480 Mbit/s.
Will a USB 3.0 Micro-USB cable work with my phone?
Usually not. A USB 3.x Micro-USB B plug is wider and fits only a matching socket, which is mostly found on external drives. For a phone with a standard Micro-USB port, choose a USB 2.0 cable.
How long can a Micro-USB cable be?
The USB 2.0 specification allows a standard passive cable of up to 5 m. For daily use a few tens of centimetres or a couple of metres is usually enough, and it is best to pick a longer cable only when you really need it, as it may charge more slowly.
