Internal PC cables

Internal PC cables

Internal computer cables are for anyone building, repairing or upgrading a PC or server: SATA data cables, SAS and NVMe cables, power cables, adapters and expansion cards. Our range has over 1300 products, with Delock, Inline, Lenovo and Kolink among the leading brands.

How to choose an internal computer cable

Connector type. Start by checking which connectors your drive, motherboard or expansion card has: SATA, SAS, NVMe, Molex, PCIe power or internal USB. SATA data and SATA power cables look similar but cannot be swapped.

Length. Measure the route through the case to the connector, not the straight-line distance. In a small case a cable that is too long obstructs airflow, while in a large tower or a server a short one simply will not reach.

Power cable compatibility. Cables for modular power supplies often differ even between series from the same maker, so choose a cable made for your exact power supply model. For a graphics card, also check whether it needs 8-pin PCIe connectors or a 12VHPWR connector.

Connector shape. Right-angled SATA connectors help when there is little room beside the drive, and latches stop the cable working loose when you move or open the case.

Data interface. Hard drives and SATA SSDs need only a SATA III cable. Servers and fast NVMe drives often call for SAS or NVMe cables with matching connectors, so check what the controller or backplane expects.

Brands we carry

  • Delock and Inline: both are known for computer cables, adapters and expansion cards, and their ranges include less common connector types.
  • Lenovo: cables for Lenovo workstations and servers, useful when you need a part made for a specific model.
  • Kolink: better known for PC cases and power supplies, so its cables suit building a PC from scratch.
  • CableMod: specialises in sleeved power cables, including graphics card cables.
  • Corsair: a power supply maker whose modular cables are designed for Corsair units.
  • StarTech.com: cables and adapters aimed at professional IT work.
  • Supermicro: a maker of servers and server motherboards whose cables are made for its own hardware.

Also in our range: Shiverpeaks, S CONN MAXIMUM CONNECTIVITY, Akasa and Exertis Connect.

The category covers SATA data cables, SAS and NVMe cables, SATA and Molex power cables, graphics card and motherboard power cables, fan and RGB cables, internal USB cables, expansion cards and adapters, and cable sets.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a SATA data cable and a SATA power cable?

A data cable carries information between the drive and the motherboard, while a power cable supplies electricity from the power supply. The data connector is narrower and the power connector wider. A drive needs both.

Can I use modular power supply cables with a different brand of power supply?

It is best not to. The connectors may look identical, but the pin layout on the power supply side differs, and the wrong cable can damage components. Use cables made for your power supply model or series.

What length of SATA cable do I need?

In a standard ATX case, a cable of 30 to 50 cm is usually enough, but it is better to measure. In a large tower, or when the drive sits far from the motherboard, choose a longer one. Excess length can be tidied away, whereas a short cable will not reach.

What if my power supply cable does not fit the graphics card connector?

First check whether the manufacturer of your power supply offers a cable with the right connector, such as 12VHPWR. Adapters exist too, but a cable made for your own power supply is generally the safer solution. Graphics card power cables have their own subcategory.
