How to choose a printer part
Compatibility. Start with the exact printer model, not just the manufacturer. Different series from the same maker often use different parts, so go by the model name and the part number.
Type of part. The printhead and the platen roller wear first, because they are in constant contact with the label or paper. If prints show streaks, clean the printhead first and replace it only if cleaning does not help.
Print resolution. Label printer printheads differ in density, most often 203 or 300 dpi. Small barcodes and small labels usually call for 300 dpi or more, and a replacement head must match the resolution of your printer.
Printing method. Direct thermal printers need no ribbon, while thermal transfer printers use a ribbon and have ribbon-related parts. Know which method your printer uses before choosing a part.
Original or compatible. An original part is made for your exact model. Compatible parts often cost less, but quality can vary, so original parts are the usual choice for industrial printers in heavy daily use.

How do I know which printhead fits my printer?
You need the exact printer model and the printhead resolution, for example 203 or 300 dpi. The model name is on the label on the printer, and you can compare the part number with the old printhead. If in doubt, choose a part whose description lists your model.
When should a platen roller be replaced?
Replace a roller when it is visibly worn or cracked, or when labels or paper slip and feed crookedly. A worn roller can also damage the printhead sooner. It is worth checking this part whenever you clean the printer.
Why do my labels print faintly or with streaks?
The usual cause is a dirty or worn printhead. Clean it with a suitable cleaning product, then check the darkness setting and the label type. If the streaks remain, the printhead probably needs replacing.
Can I use compatible parts instead of original ones?
Yes, compatible parts exist, but their quality and exact fit can vary. An original part gives more certainty that it will fit your model and work as the manufacturer intended. For printers running full shifts, original parts are the more common choice.
