Other extras

This category covers mostly USB cables, connector adapters and extension leads for phones, tablets and laptops. Our range has over 1,300 products, including MicroConnect, Lenovo, Vention, Gembird and Baseus. It suits anyone who needs to connect, charge or link different devices.

How to choose a cable or adapter

Connector type. Start by checking which connectors you need at each end. Our range includes USB A, USB C, USB B, Micro-USB B, Mini-USB B and Lightning. Most cables have plugs at both ends, while adapters and extension leads often have a socket at one end.

USB version and speed. USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/s) is enough for charging, a mouse or a keyboard. For an external SSD, large file transfers or a docking station, look at USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbit/s) or Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s). We also carry USB4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 cables for the highest speeds. The real speed is set by the slowest link in the chain: the device, the port or the cable itself.

Charging and video. A USB C plug does not guarantee that a cable carries video or charges a laptop quickly. Maximum power and video support depend on the individual cable, so check the product description.

Length and plug shape. A short cable keeps a desk tidy, while a longer one is handy by the bed or in a car. Longer passive cables struggle at higher speeds, so choose a shorter one for a fast drive. Most of our cables have straight plugs, but some are angled, which helps in tight spaces.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a USB 2.0 and a USB 3.2 cable?

The difference is data transfer speed: USB 2.0 reaches 480 Mbit/s, USB 3.2 Gen 1 up to 5 Gbit/s and Gen 2 up to 10 Gbit/s. You will not notice it when charging a phone or connecting a mouse. When copying large files to an external SSD, a faster cable saves a lot of time.

Are all USB-C cables the same?

No, only the plug is the same. Cables differ in data speed, maximum power and whether they carry video to a monitor. Check the USB version and the charging power given in the description before buying.

Which cable does an iPhone need?

Older iPhone models use a Lightning connector, while newer ones, starting with the iPhone 15, use USB-C. Check the port on your phone before you buy. Our range includes cables with both Lightning and USB C connectors.

When is an angled plug worth choosing?

An angled plug is worth choosing when the cable has to run close to a wall, a desk edge or a phone stand. It stops the cable bending sharply at the connector and reduces strain on the socket. If space is not a problem, a straight plug is the usual choice, and there are many more of them in our range.
