Phone lenses and filters

Phone lenses and filters are for anyone who wants to get more from a smartphone camera: shooting wider, filming in bright light or photographing small subjects close up. Our range includes more than 10 models, mainly from Freewell, Samsung, PGYTECH and Rollei.

How to choose a phone lens or filter

Compatibility with your phone. Accessories attach with a clip, a dedicated case, a magnet or a thread. Check that the mount suits your phone model and that the lens will line up with the camera layout, because a thick case or a different camera module size can get in the way.

Lens type. A wide-angle lens suits architecture, landscapes and group shots, a macro lens is for small details at close range, and a telephoto lens brings distant subjects closer. Most of these accessories work well with only one of the phone's camera modules, so choose according to the camera you use most.

Filter type. An ND filter reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor, so in daylight you can use a longer exposure and keep motion in video looking natural. A polarising (CPL) filter cuts reflections from water and glass and deepens the colour of the sky. For video you will usually want ND, while landscape photographers should consider CPL.

Optical quality. Glass elements with coatings generally reduce flare and stray light, while cheaper plastic lenses more often soften the corners and cause vignetting. If you enlarge or print your photos, sharp edges matter more than a wider angle of view.

Ease of use. If you plan to swap accessories often, a magnetic or quick-release system saves time. For travel, size matters, and so does a small pouch that protects the glass from scratches.

Brands we carry

  • Freewell: known for ND and CPL filters and magnetic mounting systems for phones, action cameras and drones. It accounts for the largest share of this category in our range.
  • Samsung: the maker of Galaxy smartphones, so its accessories are generally designed for Galaxy devices.
  • PGYTECH: specialises in photography and drone accessories, and also makes camera bags and gimbal add-ons.
  • Rollei: a photography brand of German origin, known for cameras and photographic accessories.
  • dbramante1928: a Danish brand known for phone cases and accessories made with recycled materials.

Frequently asked questions

Is a phone lens worth buying?

Yes, if you often find the view too narrow or want to shoot close up. Modern phones have several cameras, but an external lens can offer a different angle of view or more magnification. If you only take everyday snapshots, you probably do not need one.

What is an ND filter for on a phone?

An ND filter is for shooting in bright light when you want a longer exposure. It reduces the light entering the camera, so movement in video looks smoother, and photos of water or clouds can show a softer, blurred effect.

Will a phone lens fit any phone?

No, fit depends on the mounting method and the camera layout. Clip-on lenses suit many phones, but case-based or magnetic systems need a case made for a specific model. Check the compatible models listed in the product description before you buy.

Can a lens or filter reduce photo quality?

Yes, a poor accessory can soften the corners, cause vignetting or shift colours. Coated glass elements and an accurate mount that stays centred over the camera give better results. Bright light sources in the frame can still cause flare, even with a good lens.
