Antennas

The antennas category covers Wi-Fi, LTE and 5G antennas for indoor and outdoor use, plus directional antennas for long wireless links. They suit home and office networks, boosting the signal of routers and modems, and extending business wireless networks.

Our range includes over 70 models, with Ubiquiti, Poynting, Teltonika and MikroTik among the main manufacturers.

How to choose an antenna

Connection type and frequencies. A Wi-Fi antenna works in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, while mobile internet needs an LTE or 5G antenna, so the two are not interchangeable. Check which frequencies the antenna covers and which device it is made for.

Omnidirectional or directional. An omnidirectional antenna spreads the signal around itself and suits devices placed on several sides. A directional antenna focuses the signal in one direction, which is why it is used for links between buildings or for aiming at a mobile mast.

Gain (dBi). Higher gain reaches further, but the beam becomes narrower and the antenna must be aimed more precisely. Indoors a modest gain is usually enough, while long outdoor links call for a higher one.

Connector and cable. The most common connectors are SMA, RP-SMA and N-type, and they must match the socket on your device. A long cable weakens the signal, so place the antenna as close to the device as you can. Devices with MIMO need several antennas or an antenna with several outputs.

Mounting location. An outdoor antenna needs protection from rain, moisture and sunlight, plus a firm bracket for a pole or wall. Indoor antennas usually stand on a desk or hang on a wall.

Brands we carry

  • Ubiquiti: known for its airMAX and UniFi wireless systems, which use long-range directional antennas and access points.
  • Poynting: specialises in antennas, especially LTE and 5G models for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • Teltonika: a Lithuanian manufacturer whose main focus is industrial mobile routers and modems.
  • MikroTik: a Latvian manufacturer known for the RouterOS system and flexible routers and wireless devices.
  • Cambium Networks: makes broadband wireless equipment for operators and businesses.
  • Cisco and Siemens: Cisco is known for enterprise network equipment, Siemens for industrial automation and industrial wireless networks.

Also in our range: ALLNET, Qoltec, Maclean, Libox and D-Link.

Frequently asked questions about antennas

What is the difference between a directional and an omnidirectional antenna?

An omnidirectional antenna sends and receives in almost every direction around it, while a directional one works mainly in a single direction. The first is convenient when devices are spread around, the second when you need to reach a distant point or mast. A directional antenna must be aimed accurately.

Does an external antenna improve a mobile internet signal?

Often it does, especially when the router sits in a room with thick walls. An external antenna can be mounted higher and closer to the mast, so there is less signal loss. If there is no signal at the location at all, an antenna cannot create one.

What does dBi mean in an antenna description?

dBi shows how much the antenna strengthens the signal in a chosen direction compared with an ideal omnidirectional antenna. A higher value usually means a longer but narrower beam. It is not extra power: the antenna only focuses the signal.

How do I find out which connector my antenna needs?

Look at the antenna socket on your router or modem, or at the manufacturer's specification. SMA, RP-SMA and N-type connectors are the most common, and SMA is easy to confuse with RP-SMA. If the connectors do not match, an adapter can be used, but every extra connection weakens the signal slightly.
