How to choose a monitor or TV mount
Mounting location. Wall mounts make up most of our range, with a good number of desk models, while ceiling, pole and floor options are less common. A wall mount saves space, whereas a desk arm leaves the wall untouched and lets you pull the screen forward or raise it. Choose a ceiling or floor option where a wall is not suitable, such as a meeting room or exhibition stand.
VESA pattern. Check the layout of the mounting holes on the back of the screen, for example 100×100 or 400×400 mm, and make sure the mount supports it. If the screen has no VESA holes, you will need a special adapter or a different solution.
Screen size and weight. Every mount lists a maximum load and the screen sizes it supports. Leave some margin, especially for large and heavy screens.
Freedom of movement. A fixed mount holds the screen close to the wall and suits viewing from one spot. A tilting mount cuts reflections from a window or lights, while a swivel mount with an extending arm turns the screen sideways, which helps in corners and shared spaces.
Wall and desktop. Plasterboard needs fixings made for it or screws into the frame studs, while concrete and brick take wall plugs. For a desk mount, check the maximum desktop thickness and whether it clamps on or fits through a hole.

Frequently asked questions about monitor and TV mounts
What is VESA and how do I know if a mount fits my TV?
VESA is a standard for the layout of the mounting holes on the back of a screen, measured in millimetres, for example 200×200. Measure the distance between the holes horizontally and vertically, or look in the screen's specification. The VESA size the mount supports must cover your layout, and the screen's weight must not exceed the stated maximum load.
What is the difference between fixed, tilting and swivel mounts?
A fixed mount holds the screen close to the wall and allows no movement. A tilting mount lets you angle the screen up or down, while a swivel mount with an arm also turns the screen sideways and pulls it away from the wall. If you watch from several places in the room, a swivel mount is the better choice.
Can a monitor desk mount be fitted to any desk?
No, not to every desk. A clamp-fitted mount needs a solid desktop no thicker than the maximum stated in its specification, with no obstruction near the edge. Glass, very thin or hollow desktops may not be suitable.
How do I mount a TV on a plasterboard wall?
Fix the mount to the frame studs behind the plasterboard, or use fixings designed for heavy loads in plasterboard. A heavy TV is safer on the studs than on the board alone. If you are unsure about the wall, ask an installer.
