How to choose a leaf blower
Power source. A battery-powered blower has no cable to drag around, so it suits a large plot or a spot with no socket, but the battery capacity limits the running time. A corded electric blower runs for as long as you need, though it only reaches as far as the extension lead allows. Our range includes both types.
Airflow strength. Dry leaves need only a gentle airflow, while wet, stuck-down leaves or gravel need higher air speed (km/h). Air volume (m³/h) shows how quickly you can clear a large area, so for a big yard it is worth checking both figures.
Weight and handling. You will hold the blower for a long time, so weight, handle position and noise level all matter. A speed control lets you reduce the airflow near flower beds so the soil is not blown out. Some blowers can also vacuum leaves and shred them into a bag, and in that case the bag capacity is worth checking.
Battery system. If you already own tools from the same maker with a removable battery, a blower sold without a battery and charger may cost less. Check what is included in the box, as some models are sold as the bare tool only.

Is a battery or a corded leaf blower better?
A corded electric blower suits a small garden near the house, because there is no battery to charge. A battery model is more convenient on a large plot or where there is no socket nearby. If you already have a battery from the same maker, a bare blower without a battery can be a sensible choice.
What air speed do I need for wet leaves?
Wet leaves need a higher air speed than dry ones, so choose a model with a strong airflow and a speed control. Manufacturers give air speed in km/h and air volume in m³/h. The higher both figures are, the better the blower clears stuck leaves, though it is usually heavier and noisier too.
Can a leaf blower be used for anything other than leaves?
Yes, it will also clear grass clippings, small debris and dust from a patio, path or driveway. Heavier material such as gravel or wet mud needs a stronger airflow. Near flower beds it is worth lowering the speed so the soil stays in place.
How long does a battery leaf blower run?
Running time depends on the battery capacity and the speed you choose. At full airflow the battery drains faster, while a lower setting lets you work for longer. For a large area it is worth having a spare battery.
