Labels and label tapes

Labels and label tapes

This category covers self-adhesive labels, label tapes and printer ribbons for offices, warehouses, shops and homes. Most products come from ZEBRA, HERMA, BROTHER and DYMO, and our range runs to more than 600 items.

It suits anyone from a person printing a few address labels to a team marking parcels or stock every day.

How to choose labels and tapes

Printer compatibility. Start with your printer model and the materials its manufacturer supports. BROTHER, DYMO and ZEBRA printers usually need specific cartridges or rolls, so compare the model designation before you order.

Printing technology. Direct thermal labels need no ribbon, but the print can fade over time with heat and light. Thermal transfer printing uses a separate ribbon (wax, wax-resin or resin), and the result resists rubbing and moisture better.

Size and format. Check the label width and length, and the roll core diameter if your printer limits it. A4 sheet labels are made for office laser and inkjet printers, while parcel and warehouse work normally uses rolls.

Material and adhesive. Paper labels suit dry indoor use, whereas film labels (polyester or polypropylene, for example) cope better with damp, cold and oils. Removable adhesive will not damage folders or documents, and permanent adhesive is meant for long-term marking.

Quantity and purpose. For parcels, barcodes and cable marking, larger rolls usually work out cheaper per label. For occasional use, a small cartridge or a few sheets are enough.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer labels?

Direct thermal labels darken under the print head's heat and need no ribbon. Thermal transfer printing uses a ribbon whose ink is transferred onto the label, so the print lasts longer. For short-term marking such as parcels, the first method is often enough.

Which labels should I choose for parcels?

Parcels usually call for direct thermal roll labels, and 100 × 150 mm is a widely used format. What matters most is that the roll width and core fit your printer. If you print parcel labels on a standard office printer, choose A4 sheet labels instead.

Can I use tapes or labels from a different manufacturer?

It depends on the printer and the material. Some printers accept rolls from several makers, but cartridge-based systems often work only with their own cartridge format. Check the printer manual or the material's compatibility list before buying.

How do I know which tape fits my label printer?

Look at the printer's model name and the marking on the cartridge or roll currently loaded. It states the tape type and width in millimetres, for example 12 mm. If the marking has worn off, the printer's specification lists the supported materials.
