Egg cookers are small electric appliances that cook eggs in steam, so there is no pan to watch on the hob. They suit families, students and anyone who makes breakfast in a hurry. Our range includes over 20 models, among them BLOW, CASO, ADLER, TRISTAR, CLATRONIC, PRINCESS and GASTROBACK.
How to choose an egg cooker
Capacity. For one or two people, a cooker that boils four eggs or fewer at a time is enough. If you cook for a whole family, or boil extra eggs for salads and holiday meals, choose a model that holds seven or more.
Cooking methods. The simplest cookers only boil eggs, while some models come with extra trays for poached eggs or omelettes. If you only eat soft or hard-boiled eggs, the accessories are unnecessary and just take up cupboard space.
Control over doneness. On many cookers, doneness is set by the amount of water you add, using the marks on the measuring cup. An electronic timer and an audible signal are worth having if you often cook eggs to different firmness. Automatic switch-off once the water has boiled away protects against overheating.
Cleaning and safety. Limescale builds up on the heating plate, especially in hard water areas, so look for a model with an easy-to-reach base and removable trays. A firm lid and non-slip feet help a hot appliance stay stable on the worktop.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an egg cooker take to boil eggs?
Usually from a few minutes to around a quarter of an hour, depending on the firmness you want and the number of eggs. Soft-boiled eggs take less time, hard-boiled more. The measuring cup or the instruction manual gives the exact amount of water for each level.
Can I cook eggs straight from the fridge?
Yes, cold eggs can be cooked. Many manufacturers advise piercing the rounded end of the egg with the pin supplied, so steam can escape and the shell does not crack. Cold eggs may need slightly longer than eggs at room temperature.
Does an egg cooker use less electricity than a saucepan?
Most of the time, yes, because it needs only a small amount of water to make steam rather than a full pan. The appliance heats just a few spoonfuls of water, so it comes to the boil quickly and switches itself off. The difference is more noticeable if you cook eggs every day.
How do I remove limescale from an egg cooker?
Once the appliance is unplugged and cool, you can descale it with a citric acid or vinegar solution. Fill the heating plate with the solution, wait until the limescale softens, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Always check the manufacturer's instructions first, as not every part can be washed with water.
