How to choose an internal power cable
Connector type. Start by identifying the connector on your power supply and the one the component needs. Our range includes Molex (4-pin), SATA 15-pin, PCI-E 8-pin, ATX 24-pin and Molex 3-pin connectors, the last of which is mostly used for fans.
Cable purpose. An adapter converts one connector type to another, for example Molex to SATA, an extension cable lengthens an existing lead, and a splitter turns one connector into several. Work out what is missing before you buy: length, number of connectors or the right connector type.
Connector gender. Many of our cables have a female connector on the second end, so they plug into an existing power supply lead or socket. Check that the plug and socket on the cable match the ends of your own cables.
Length. Short adapters of 0.15-0.5 m are available in our range. For an extension cable, measure the actual cable route from the power supply to the component, through the case cut-outs, rather than the straight-line distance, and allow a few centimetres of slack.
Power supply compatibility. The pin layout on modular power supply cables differs between manufacturers and sometimes between series. Choose a modular cable only for the manufacturer and series it is intended for, and check standard ATX, SATA or PCI-E extension cables by connector type.
Sleeving and colour. If your case has a window, the cables are visible, so a braided sleeve and a matching colour can be worth having. Most of the cables in our range are multicolour, and there are also black, white, yellow and red ones.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Molex and SATA power connectors?
A SATA 15-pin connector is flat and used for storage drives and optical drives. A Molex (4-pin) connector is larger and older, and today it is mostly used for fans, controllers and older equipment. The two do not fit each other, so you need an adapter to connect them.
Can I use a modular power cable from another manufacturer?
It is best not to. The pin layout of modular cables can differ even between series from the same manufacturer, and a wrongly wired cable can damage components. Use only cables the manufacturer lists as compatible with your power supply model.
Does a Molex to SATA adapter work with an SSD?
Yes, a SATA SSD or hard drive can be powered through a Molex to SATA adapter, provided your power supply has a free Molex connector. An M.2 NVMe SSD needs no separate power cable, as it draws power from the motherboard slot.
How do I choose the right cable length?
Measure the cable route from the power supply connector to the component, including any routing through case cut-outs, and add a few centimetres of slack. In our range, short cables start at 0.15 m and go up to 0.5 m, and extension cables are available in more lengths.
